Today the head unit screen started flashing on & off rapidly. Then it went totally blank. Restarting the truck and the radio did nothing, it started flashing again. Then it went completely dark. The radio still plays but the display is completely dark.

    Thoughts?

I hope knowledgeable people will reply, I have no idea what it can be - I would probably check for any ODB codes that try to disconnect battery for 1 hr first. If it doesn't help I would assume that some connector got loose inside. If I can find any good guidance how to remove head unit and check connectors I would try it providing that truck is out of warranty. If not - then I would give up and go to a dealership...

Yeah, my worst nightmare is having to replace the head unit. If I do have to replace it'll be with a Kenwood or Pioneer w/ Garmin GPS. But that's gonna be pricey...

Sounding like a connector, capacitor, or something in the display circuit causing a loose display connection. You can rip it open and check all connections and solder points and cables. What i would do, but that's me. Cuz your display is out, not radio your functionality.

Less work is to just replace it with aftermarket or find a cheap factory radio (of course same level of your current one, entune or JBL or whatever)
