New to the forum, coming from a 2010 TRD Offroad Tacoma. Spent years building the Tacoma only to have someone run a red light and total my truck. I realized I did not want to start from scratch so I decided to find something that was already built, at least close to what I wanted. Also decided to get a 4Runner, obviously looking at an Offroad or Pro at first, then came across this Limited and was intrigued. Liked the idea of all time 4WD so decided to get it. Did my fair share of mods on her and I am really happy with the results! Isn't she a beauty? I never saw it either. But the interwebs seems it's been aTaco mod for a bit now. Like an internal snorkel of sorts.

but when you splash water over the hood...... you know like the 4" standing water after a heavy rain and it billows a massive sheet of water over the hood and windshield. that is a lot of water running down into the cowl. also when crossing water, at headlight depth you push a wave of water up and its easy to get it to roll over the hood if you go too fast. i am not so sure the cowl air intake is the best place to put it but to each their own.

I did the cowl intake on my Tacoma. Had it for years, did some heavy wheeling with it, plenty of river crossings with water coming over the hood, never had a problem. The cowl had room for a lot of water to build up, and if the cowl fills all the way up it would flood the hvac intake before reaching the engine intake. It's absolutely a viable alternative to a snorkel

She was already lifted but I had to replace the rear shocks and level the front. Did pretty much everything else
