Just purchased a 2014 with 130k; from service records appear trans fluid has never been changed. Is it worth it to have someone do a drain and refill at this mileage or just let sleeping dogs lie. Trans appears to be working fine. Thanks

If it were me I would do drain fill to freshen up the additives. Everyone has a different perspective on the ATF. I have always had good luck multiple Toyota/Lexus to drain fill it periodically.

Yup, do a drain and fill. Normally it's around the 100k mark so the sooner the better

Do a drain and fill now and then another one a few months later. That will get most of the old fluid out in the mix and leave your transmission fluid in better shape.

Do it. Did mine at 193k. Heard the stories but I couldn't put it back in. Did mine and my problem went away.

In another thread you mentioned putting some of the particulates from the old oil back in with the new oil during a pan drain/refill. I would have never thought of that, but a while back I saw the Car Care Nut (youtuber-former toyota tech) mentioned something along the same lines…that the suspended particulates actually help the various clutch linings bite.

It sounds like a logical thing to do. Was that (or is it) a common practice with mechanics?

More for high mileage Toyotas I believe. They used to use a screen that that material will pass through but probably clog a filter. I don't on these. I saw a transmission gasket in parts, but they used to be installed with FIPG. The more I remember the less I know
