2012 Brake Light not Working

Driver side brake light is out. Picked up some bulbs and changed it. Brake light won't light up still. Hazard and reverse bulbs work just fine. Bulb is seated well and oriented correctly in the opening. Any ideas?

Does brake light work when pressing the brake?

Fuse 1 under the drivers side dash.

I had this same problem on a 2010. Replaced the bulbs and the problem persisted. Found this YouTube video and my issue was the exact same as this. Fixed! 2010 Toyota 4Runner brake light keeps going out fix (youtube.com)

 

One of the annoying things we had to do when I worked at Oreilly was push related items on people at the register. One was the bulb grease. Believe me though, you want that because I saw many situations like yours where just a tiny layer of corrosion can cause an open circuit.

 

The 2010-2013 taillight housings slightly warp as they get older and the brake light bulb stops making consistent contact.

 

I was actually thinking about doing this, so thanks for reinforcing that decision.
