Need some help on where to look next. My son's 2011 SR5 isn't blowing cold air with the AC on. Was hoping it was just low on freon, but that wasn't the issue. The compressor is not coming on. I think I can hear a click in the engine bay, but I'm not sure if that points to the relay or the compressor itself. Another thing that seems weird is the AC light on the controls will not go off no matter how many times I press the button.

He's at college 7 hours away and I'm up visiting him, so I was hoping it was just the simple freon fix. Should have known Murphy would intervene. Where do I need to look next?

    edit: typo

My AC went out on my newer toyota and it was the blend door actuator? Its a simple fix.

    Simple things to check:
Make sure the 10A A/C COMP fuse isn't blown.

Unplug the compressor clutch and feed 12V power to pin 3 directly, see if it'll engage. If the clutch doesn't engage, then you have a bad clutch. If it engages, continue troubleshooting. Pin 3 is opposite from the connector latch:

Pull the A/C COMP relay; in the relay socket, using a test light, check for 12V power at pin 5 receptacle. If there's power, jumper it to the pin 3 receptacle. See if the clutch engages.

Checked the fuse and it's ok.

Unfortunately I'm away from home so I don't have anything to check the electrical components. Thinking I may have to stay over another night and take it somewhere Monday morning.

Just wanted to update with the resolution on this. Took it to a shop to get it checked. They called me not long after I dropped it off and said they had it blowing ice cold. Turns out the high pressure switch had somehow come unplugged. So they just plugged it back in and it started working. Little frustrated it was something so simple and I didn't see it, but also thankful it wasn't something actually wrong with the system.
