Im replacing my battery cables in my 4runner because im assuming that is why my car isnt starting right away each time. Starter, alternator, starter relay all are good. Ive clean the cables and terminals, new battery. My question is, do I have to have the whole harness replaced or can I just buy 2 new cables from auto zone ect.

No, you need to cut and splice in a new cable. I would determine which cable is going bad. For me, it was the negative cable that was corroding the terminal really badly and therefore I replaced about 8-10" of that cable with a new one. When I pulled open the insulation, there was corrosion among the strands for nearly the entire length of what I cut.

You will need a large butt splice connector for that size wire and a torch and solder and flux and shrink wrap that seals. The splice needs to be super solid and sealed or that 40Amps it pulls will just cause it to go bad. Just crimping is not recommended. You need it soldered.

My fix has lasted several years now.
