Sorry wanted to put more detail in the title

Hey good to be on this forum1

Need some help! I cant get key out of ignition when in park. Trusted repair shop has replaced bushings and solenoid. Got better for a while. Year later right back to same problem. They want to replace entire shifter. They claim Toyota doesnt carry parts any longer.

Anyone have same or similar problem? Any recommended sources for these parts?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Yes, I sprayed a can of WD-40 down the keyhole. Got a new key cut. Done working fine ever since.

I've experienced this on two other vehicles (not 4Runners). Lube or new key are the quick and easy things to try. I'd say they're more likely to fix it if you also sometimes have trouble turning the key to start. Hopefully that's it. Another possibility, perhaps more likely if it's a removal-only problem, is the gear position sensor/neutral safety switch. Sometimes you can identify that by getting the key to release by pushing the gear shift lever a tiny bit forward or back.
