Dobinson c55-675 Extended Travel variable rate ~Rear Springs AlphaRex Headlights Now ~ LED Color Flow Headlights Kill Mat sound Deadened external metal from inside of the doors even the side walls of them - deadened the rear gate too. * Illusion C6 150w spkrs in gate ~ included crossover splits tweeters to location High on Rear panels. * DS18 Red Bullet loudspeakers 250w - mid-range spkrs in Back Doors. * Focal Toyota editions (suck) in Front Doors.
I'm looking forward to obtaining information from all you - as well as sharing what I learn along the way.
What I'm doing with my Runner -I never planned or completely thought it thru!
I will Address some of those things in later posts.

    2014 limited with JBL system

    Today's query:
I sound deadened my doors and back hatch. Installed DS18's Midrange 6 1/2in speakers in the lift gate. Installed the FOCAL toyota versions in the front doors w tweets in the dash.
The Focals just don't sound or deliver what i expected. They've been installed 6 months but have had them for over a year & a few days ago I noticed the passenger side Tweeter was shattered.
I'm going to check into warranty through creative audio where I purchased them or perhaps a return credit.
I have a pair of Illusion C6's components with crossovers that came with them. Was thinking to install in the back doors & mount the tweets up high on surface of the pillars - aimed forward to driver/passenger seating. Reasoning for not using the front doors and dash because I don't want rain damaging and destroying the speakers in the doors.
The OEM Sub has been ok - but hope to change to a JL10 inch at a later point.

Do I really need to Replace my stock head unit? If so - can i keep use of the amplifier just for the Sub (for now) & steering wheel controls and back up camera functions. I do have a 4-channel amp I can install - was thinking 2 channels for the front (4) & 2 channels for the back doors & tweets, series wired to hatch (6).
Yes I like volume but with quality sound delivery and a Good sound stage!!

Old school audiobuff that hasn't kept up on High End Audio products.
I have a limited budget - next to nothing currently - Do i NEED a different head unit (which 1) and a DSP or can I use the wiring harness that PAC sells to incorporate my secondary amp and new speakers??
Primarily use Android and Bluetooth to connect but I would like the ability of watching videos/movies on screen..
    As well as navigation.
Entune doesn't update, the current maps is way out of date. I don't use XM, tho Disc is nice backup for times of no cellular moments.
Here's your opportunity to throw me your professional or experienced knowledge in regards to an Incredible emersive audio environment.

I listen to all Genre - Subsonic/Trap - Bass boosted = I've been playing past few months along with GrassRock/GangstaGrass & Music from The Dead South/Lindsey Sterling/Steam Power Giraffes ---------from Violins, Bagpipes, banjo & many other string sounds, the ecstasy of Electric guitars = I love the Lowest of lows & the vibrations - the Highs of crisp hats & snares,

Welcome. Before anything else, spend $1,200 and get a rear locker and you will be unstoppable.

Welcome. To answer the question, you don't technically HAVE to replace the headunit. But if you're going all out with DSP, etc might as well replace the outdated headunit too. Just makes life easier.
