So on a whim I checked out Cars.com listings and found this guy. Too good to be true or someone just doesn’t know what they have?

By the way I am not able to buy this so feel free to snatch this up if you want.

    Nutshell from the listing:
    USED 1988 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6 4WD
    150,000 miles
    $3,500
"A well-maintained reliable 4x4 1st Gen 4Runner with low mileage. Purchased vehicle earlier this year from an elderly couple moving out of home. New Tires, A/C works great. Does have some rust but that is the only defect this vehicle has. Thanks for looking!"

Eaten alive with rust. I talked to them this week and they sent me a ton of pictures.

That's sad. Looks fairly clean from the few pictures they provided; but it's always suspicious when they don't include undercarriage pics.

I normally wouldn't let rust scare me, but this is A LOT.

Was it the frame that was rotted out? Or is the body also shot? If the body's solid, and drivetrains in good working order, might be a good candidate for a frame swap. I know I'd be tempted to throw a lower offer at it with that in mind.

Eh, was just doing some poking around; and while you can find plenty of pickup frames, not seeing any 1st gen 4Runner frames for sale. I'm just going to turn and walk away from this thread before I talk myself into something that gets me in trouble, lol.

The only thing that was salvageable in my opinion was the interior. It was 99% there and in good shape. Body and frame were terrible.

Waiting on the title to mine and then it will be for sale. Body's rough, runs/drives but needs work. The frame is in good shape. I haven't really thought of a price yet.

Hahaha thanks man. The body is bedlined I'm hoping that the whole truck is painted like that under the bed liner.
