Hello to the esteemed members of 4Runners.com,

I made an account on here when i first got my 87’ last December… but shame on me b/c this is my first time logging back on :/ Anyways, I’ve come to my senses and decided to reach out for some help / advice:

One of the issues with my truck is that the passenger seat slider is somewhat broken.
I have been able to manually fold it forward after taking off the plastic, but it doesn’t slide forward & obviously isn’t working as intended. I haven’t really been able to figure out what is wrong with it, I tried comparing to the driver side but they don’t appear to work the same. Nor have i been able to find a replacement online or at a pick-n-pull.

If anyone has a functional passenger seat & is able to help me make sense of what’s wrong that would be great!

    Thanks,
    -Colson

Does this help give an idea of what’s broken / missing?

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
See that small, silver bar on the bottom? The one that runs along from the back, for about 1/2 the length of the slider rails? That should pull on a cable under the seat, inside the rails. It goes to a tab on the other side, which, when the cabbbbbbbbble pulls on it, releases the catch of the slider. This should allow the seat to slide forward and back The tab has a bad habit of bending over time, to the point it no longer releases the catch. You can bend it back into place, allowing it to release the catch again. Just look under the seat while moving the release lever, and you can see the way the mechanism SHOULD work.
It's easiest if you take the seat out, so you have room to pry, but not essential.

Let us know how it goes :)

Gotcha, i think I'm tracking with you.
But i found another problem; looks like the cable was broken and got cut out or something... so that may be more of my issue.
