I have a 1998 4 runner and the abs light is on, I first read the code and it came back with a 33 I then went and got a rear right speed sensor and installed it I then tried to rest the light and then proceeded to turn the car on the light was still on so I then ran a test on both rear sensor they were fine. I then ran a test on the harness I wasn’t getting voltage, I then followed the two rear sensor plugs up into the rear seat of the car where the rear sensor harness connects to the rest of the abs system then I looked inside of the plug of the harness and found the plug was corroded, I then cut the plug from both sides and rewire a new plug in. I then went and proceeded to rest the abs light but I found it just kept blinking the abs code as before 33 and not just blinking fast as I was told when I would rest the abs light. I then put everything back and started it back up, and still the abs light is was on. What should I do? I need the abs light gone because I need a brake and lamp inspection done on the 4 runner.

What does your code reader say? I was not aware that the idiot lights blink any codes in the third gen. Can anyone confirm?

Did you verify voltage is getting to the right rear sensor?

The sensor has a straight shot to the ECU although it goes through 2 connectors.

You can’t scan it like you would with your obod2 port but you can read the blinking abs light to find the r code I got a code 33 which is for the rear right speed sensor. I also did test the voltage the right rear sensor and didn’t look like was getting voltage, and that’s when I found the corroded, plug that connected the front abs system to the rear abs system harness. After that I thought I solved the issue I have done anymore testing. Sense it was getting dark, and wanted a second opinion on what might be happening?
