My 1997 4Runner with 250K miles on it has been running pretty rough (ride wise not engine).

I took it to a well respected shop to get diagnosis and estimate for repair, they quoted me about $1700 to replace front and rear shocks and struts.

About 5 hours in labor and $800 in parts (all OEM parts).

This seems a little high but I don't have enough experience/knowledge to know.

    Anyone have thoughts on this?

    Thanks!
    Bob

    Your vehicle doesn't use struts.

A set of front coilovers and rear shocks should run you in the $500-600 range, and install can easily be done at home.
