It pains me to say it but I’m looking for a good home for my ’95 SR5 manual 4WD. This has been my steady ride since I bought it after graduating from college in 2000 and I absolutely loved this truck. After a head gasket failure a couple months ago my wife and I decided to let it go instead of fixing or replacing the engine. We bought a lovely 2019 SR5 and I’m looking for interest from the community here for the old guy. Would be great to find someone excited about their next project or in need of parts for their other project. Looking for $3000. Local buyer preferred, will ship if you work out the logistics. I'm in San Diego, 92103

Lots to love: Reliable manual transmission; 236k miles; no major issues until the head failure back in December; the clutch was overhauled ~7 years/25k miles ago, but gears are original; still starts and runs great, just can't go too far on that blown head! Brand new radiator and thermostat (replaced just before the head blew, sad); brand new battery (replaced last month to demonstrate the engine runs); mostly used as a city vehicle, occasional trail use but not too much of a beating; upholstery and carpet are also in great shape for their age. The manual trans and drop tailgate are something I will truly miss forever!

Full disclosure on a few things other than the head gasket: 1st gear is a little slippy, I got used to lightly holding the shifter in place while in 1st (no problem with the other gears). AC has been out for a few years (fans/heater are going strong). Tachometer dial has a mild squeak but works fine. The motors for the rear door windows are a little sluggish, still get the job done. The key-operated tailgate window mechanism will lower the window but will not turn counter-clockwise to raise it (the window can be raised and lowered using the center console button, works just fine). Clearcoat and paint went south long ago, never bothered me too much, haha; cracked dashboard; a few dents in the front chrome bumper; front left turn signal cover is cracked. The left running board is a little bent from the time a tow driver placed his jack under the board while I wasn’t looking (come on, man!).

Excellent care over the years from my mechanic, who loved this truck as much as I did, but he retired and closed up shop without notice a couple years ago. I relied on his database to track my maintenance and unfortunately did not keep great records myself.

Truly an epic vehicle, I’ll be very sad to see this towed away, but am also excited at the prospect of getting it into good hands. So if you or someone you know are interested, please get in touch!
