Hello everyone, I'm a new 4Runner owner. Just bought an 03, it was throwing the code for the Transmission Temp sensor. But when I got into it, the harness plug is melted on both sides .

What are my options to repair this?? Should I try to find a good one from a junkyard?? Or is this something that should be replaced new??

Obviously money is an issue, trying to get it done as cheap as possible.

    Thanks for for any advice

    More info.

    1. What's the code?
    2. Is it just temp sensor that's bad or entire tranny is shot?
    3. You going to fix/replace or hire mechanic?
    4. Pics?

    Code P0713

I haven't dropped the pan yet, but I'm starting to think the transmission is shot, something melted the Harness.

I just bought the car, so I have no clue what happened to it before, I have a feeling someone was just driving around without it shifting into high gear.

I have to have a mechanic friend do it, but it's definitely not free,

Right now I'm thinking about buying the replacement harnesses I see online. And get new shift solenoids.

What else could cause the harness to melt??
