I don't remove the plug, I just remove the whole housing...slowly.

I don't think it makes a big mess, but I also have a huge drain pan to catch all the oil and I wear rubber gloves.

Installed SSO’s high clearance sides last night, I love the look. But it frustrates me that this is the 2nd time they mess up on my order, this time they only sent one weather trim.

Yeah, I'm really liking it! A couple of tips that may be useful:

You need to attach a very thin magnet (the company supplies) to the back of your phone. If you have a phone cover, you attach the magnet to the inside of your phone cover. I just have mine on the back of my phone since I have no cover.

Use the supplied protective film between the magnet and your phone/cover because it helps the magnet stick better.

It's best to center the magnet on the back of your phone, but if you use a wireless charger, the magnet blocks it when centered.......so if that's the case, you need to place the magnet somewhere else on the phone. The instructions recommend you place it on the bottom of your phone, but I found the phone to be slightly shaky when on the mount this way. I tried placing the magnet up as high as I could on the phone and the shakiness went away, while still being able to wirelessly charge. Test out the spot you place the magnet by scotch taping it to your phone and then try it on your wireless charger before permanently sticking your magnet on. It could save you some frustration.

Once you've found a good spot for the magnet on the back of your phone, then find the best position for the phone mount to go on in your truck.

As far as the ocean goes, yes! Been going in it for nearly 40 years now and still have all my limbs, although I did see a white shark breach a few weeks ago 50 yards out from me. It was just a baby though. Roughly 6ft long.

I surfed a spot in Kauai known for it's large tiger sharks and a lightning storm ended up driving me out of the water. That would have been your worst nightmare

I've been lucky with my knees. Had a few friends that have had surgery or replacements. Seems like the success rate is 50/50 (at least with the people I know). How did yours turn out? Any limitations?

Now I see why you're scared of sharks. You've actually been bitten by one!

Sucks to hear about the knee. But if it's not working out for you, go to another doctor and try again. I know too many people that just try and live with their bum knees. It's not worth it.

No major mods, but used the wife’s 4runner to go pick up a new bike.

    Odd newby question.
I can google it; but I will likely go down a worm hole.
I would like to change our oil for the first time.
I know we get 2 yrs free. We are @ 4,300 miles after a 2.5k mile trip.
I would like to change oil this week (also install TRD intake).
Next week is rear differential after a previous thread.
    Onto the question.
Where can I get a filter wrench for the 2019 5th gen? We plan on keeping this for over 10 yrs!
    Thanks in advance!

    Much appreciated.
    Am I seeing things...
It appears that you can put a wrench right into the top of the cartridge housing?
I appreciate the info. I am familiar with this type of filter as that is what my 6.0 powerstroke uses.
    Continued thanks!

Thanks. I got the rope guard more because I have a phobia about UV rays deteriorating the exposed synthetic rope, don’t know if sunlight will actually do damage to the rope, but seemed like a good idea, and most winch rope companies put a UV protective sheath around that end, so why not protect the rope in the loop. And it looks cool.

The picture you see is a picture of the wrench on the housing. You need this tool to do the oil change. No way around it. There are however much cheaper options that are just as good. They are all the same, no need for anything fancy or over priced like that one is. Here is what I use.

I like it a lot, I also have their sliders. They specialize in aluminum products, the powder coating was perfect, it’s re-enforced at the mounting and recovery points with steel, they packed it well for shipping. I live on the west coast and they are out of Vancouver BC so shipping didn’t take long. I was in contact with them and they were great to work with and gave me a discount off their list price. I would recommend them for sure. My 4Runner is also my daily driver and most of our off-roading is in the desert and dried up river washes so very limited rock crawling. I went with aluminum on all my armor to save weight. I put in a Smittybilt X20 10K

Thx for comments. Did you install yourself? If so, what did you use to trim the 4Runner bumper? I have a 2020 TDR Pro on order for fall delivery. Once delivery is confirmed, I am going to order the Green Lane aluminum ladder. I have decided to go with the Hefty sliders as they can be used as a jack point, whereas the Green Lane aluminum sliders can't be used as a jack point to lift the vehicle to either change a tire, or get off a high centre or out of a hole
http://www.heftyfabworks.com/store/#!/2010-4Runner-Rock-Sliders/p/52330927/category=13461274 Haven't decided if I will go for a hidden winch mount front bumper yet. That winch looks like a great deal too, and with synthetic rope! https://smittybilt.ca/smittybilt-smi98510.html

I did install it myself, took about 4 hours to do. I used a floor jack with a block of wood to lift it up and hold it in place while you line up the bolts. I put the winch on the bumper before installing so it weighs about 100lbs together. I used a Dremel with a plastic cutting wheel to cut the bumper, then a sanding drum to smooth out the edge. The front valance on the pro and off-road make the perfect outline to cut for the bumper. I bought edge trim to go along the cut edge.

    https://www.amazon.com/Edge-Trim-Black-large-Fits-Length/dp/B00KGAKG2G

It gives a nice finished look to the edge and hides any small mistakes you might make when cutting the edge.

The installation is very much similar to installation of the Southern Style Off-Road bumper.
This is a pretty good video on how to do it.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZMNp-lGyaM&feature=share.
Good luck with your new pro.

    Well, got some parts installed.
It has been a busy summer & we have 2 family members in the hospital.
Anyway, got the TRD intake done today! Meticulous attention was paid to wiring.
Skill level needed: maybe a 2.
Taking our time and having a 10 yr old with us we leisurely did it in 2 hrs.
If you buy the kit it is very easy. We followed the instructions (only changing a thing or two).
FYI I did disconnect the negative battery & have no check engine light. No carista also but soon.
I feel little instant throttle improvement.
A bit more mid range punch power (I feel).
Most of all is the sound. I feel it adds a nice note to the motor. Before it was kind of the sound of the giant vacuum a motor is. Now you can hear it work even when not @ full throttle. This is my favorite part of it.
We shall see about economy. Her commute is like 13 miles one way. We get bad mileage. Averaging about 15 all city with 8 miles of interstate a day.
On second thought, I bet it is all due to the oil cap! LMAO 20190803_104757.jpg 20190803_104805.jpg 20190803_122413.jpg 20190803_134652.jpg 20190803_134705.jpg
    Goodbye engine cover!
