What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

If I we're going to do it over I would have gotten Amber ones for the fogs. Or even the morimoto fogs.

 

RCI sliders installed this morning. SUPER easy install, took just over an hour to do the whole swap by myself.

I’m looking into a rack changeout on mine, want a full length, but no drilling, to accommodate a RTT.

I've got about a 1/2 clearance so I made a styrofoam spacer just in case

 

Detailed engine bay.....

 

I finished the interior LED swap last night, installed the LED back up lights.

I tinted the windows this morning, 10% in all rear, 35% in the front two, 20% windshield drop.

Then washed it.

 

Finally put on the cheap ass billet grille overlay I bought a few months ago. I do like it better than the stock grille but not sure how it's going to hold up or if I'll keep it on....bright side it took like 15 minutes to throw on.

 

I would say more like bumpy washed dirt roads as in getting to and from fishing areas and shooting spots.....

 

I clean it once a month maybe twice.....

 

What's your method?

 

cover Alternator with plastic shopping bag use straight simple green let it set for 20 minutes hose off then use silk dressing from Chemical Guys or 303 protectant. Then just come back and wipe off any areas of over spray or heavy spots with a dry rag.....

 

How would it? What issues?

 

Doesn't simple green react with aluminum?

 

In 32 plus yrs of cleaning my engine I have never had any issues back before all these protectants came out i used WD-40 and Gunk engine cleaner.....

 

I have yet had any issues over the yrs

The only problem I could see...
Just like in salt conditions. There can be some possible corrosion with the chemicals and the wiring harnesses (something odd we wouldn't think of).
I agree your engine bay looks great.
For what it is worth (and it was 20 yrs ago), when I worked at a carwash the boss said to leave the motor running while washing.
I am not a mechanic. I'm just thinking about the question. I may be way off...

 

I'm not sure I would put cold water on a hot aluminum engine! I do it usually first thing in the mornings back it of the garage spray it down hose it off...

It was a full service car wash. It was hot water! I would never use cold water on any hot engine (unless you don't like yourself) lol.
