Raised to maximum height, want to lower

    My PO raised my 4runner to the max. How do i go about lowering it 10-12 cm? I hear there is a bar and it seems straight forward but does that bar lower rear and front height together?

    Any tips appreciated

    12 cm is 120 mm which is 4.724 inches so that sounds like it has a lift kit on it from some after market company. You would need to have the kit removed and the suspension then reinstalled to the OEM mounting locations. After that the front and rear can be adjusted with the torsion bars and spacers and or different rear coil springs. New shock absorbers would need to be sourced to correct for the OEM extended and and collapsed length requirements.

    Torsion bars on the upper A-Arm can be relaxed by jacking up the vehicle which will top out the suspension and reduce the preload on the torsion bar anchor bolts. Once the wheels are hanging in the air you can back off the bolts at the anchor horns which are apart of the frame. You may have to place a spanner on the nut that is above the horn and arm to keep it from moving as you spin the bolt some number of full revolutions to reduce the preload. Try 5 to 10 turns for a first pass at getting this to a place you want the ride height to be. The distance from the frame cross member to the ground with the 4Runner shod with 31 x 10.5-R15 tires is 11 to 12 inches to the ground. Consult FSM for OEM spec. With a 4.724" lift you would have to offset the spec accordingly!

    For the rear suspension it is a coil spring and perhaps a spacer above it if it is not stock and has this much lift going on!

    Post pics? If it's just spacers, remove them. If aftermarket suspension was installed, most can be removed then adjusted to a lower setting. A local off road shop could help you with either, and with identifying what you have, but post up pictures and I'm sure the forum can sleuth it out easily enough.

    I haven't the faintest idea for the moment as the PO is being a little vague. But poking my head into the rear arch, i notced that there are no coil springs, so im confused about Mr Parker's comments. Will try and get some photos up soon. thanks for your support and patience.
