Hey guys I drove through some questionably deep water about a year ago and threw a rod in my 240k mile 1998 5vzfe. For the last year we have been working on it and we bought a JDM engine with said to be low mileage. Put everything together and finally tried to start it last night and the relays all seemed to click but the starter made no noise at all. It is a brand new starter. Battery is good. All the grounds are where they are suppose to be. We can hear clicking coming from a relay near the battery and a relay on the passenger side. Could this be Neutral Safety Switch? If so how do you get to it and check and see if its good? What else could it be? Does have aftermarket clifford alarm system. Thanks in advance!

Run a jumper wire from the positive battery post to the starter solenoid. If the starter and solenoid are good, this will crank the motor, so don't have your hair hanging in the radiator fan or anything. If that works and the motor cranks, get out your wiring diagram and find where the ignition wire comes from (likely the fuse box). Keep stepping back like that until you find power, and you'll find the problem. It might be worth deleting that alarm and returning the wiring to factory until you get the problem figured out.

I have an FSM in pdf I can share with you, but it's not indexed and nearly worthless. I recommend springing for a 2 day Alldata subscription and spending a couple hours downloading and printing everything you can.

Hanks for the reply! We connected the two ends on the starter by continuing the circuit through a screw driver and the motor did crank. Tested the ignition wire on the starter and it's not getting any power when key is turned so it makes me think either alarm system or neutral safety switch. I'm leaning more toward the alarm system. All I know about it is it's a Clifford WM-5000V5 but my google search didn't really turn up with anything. Everything pictured looks a lot newer than the one on my car. Did a couple of alarm system bypass techniques with no luck.
