Picture time for things completed this week, well most. Not picture is cold air intake, TRD oil cap, odyssey battery with Agency 6 battery clamp.

Victory 4x4 blitz bumper with warn VR8-S winch and 20” light bar. Painted the shackles dark blue to match better. Also installed TRD skid plate with letters painted dark blue.

Pulled off and painted rear silver valance black and added recovery hitch w/shackle.

My dad and I then built a custom rear storage compartment that is level with the back seats folded flat. Only has about 4” of space (bottom to top)but works for straps, tools and recovery gear to keep it out of the way. I wanted it level so I could sleep on it if needed.

Also got the TRD black rims installed, kept the stock tires for now.

    Great week looks good
What fabric did you use for the drawers?
Is there much of a gap between the TRD skid and Victory bumper?

Damn nice rig. I like the storage. I got crap that just gets in the way and this storage would be nice.

That was the reason I wanted to build the storage to keep things I like to have in vehicle at all times without getting in the way.

So we pulled out the carpet and hard foam under padding. Laid the carpet back down as the bottom lining for the storage box. Built a custom wood frame cut to fit over the metal hump and around seat brackets. Made sure it all fit snug. The painted it all black, put carpet on the top pieces/lids and put it all together. The hinge is just a piano hinge and we left a small gap between the back piece and lids so that it remained smooth and flat on the top and hinge was hidden. The lids over hang about 1/2”-3/4” by the rear hatch to lift them open.

The Lid stays we tried wouldn’t work, gonna create custom hold open with just a piece of wood you can flip up to keep lid open.

People who think an OME rides rough afterwards must be coming from a car. I can’t possibly imagine any man who is use to a real truck thinking it would ride rough. I spent all day today driving around in my wife’s new ride doing estimates and thinking how smooth it rode and how well it handled. But I’ve never driven anything but a 4x4 truck for the 30 years of my driving life. Never once have I ever driven a car or even an SUV on a daily basis. But a log wagon would probably ride better than my huge diesel truck.

It is definitely a little stiffer than stock but it is not to rough (and I haven't added the weight it is set up for yet). I'm with you on trucks. I drive a lifted '99 Dodge Crew Cab Long bed diesel half the time. It sounds and drives like a forklift haha! I do see why people have issue with the ride however, they have a very nice/comfy ride stock.

Just added the Lamin-X fog light overlay. Great product & very easy install. Undecided on the Amber color....what do you think?? I was originally going to do the light grey tint.

Also added OrangeBoxx PSD. They did a great job on the actual rack...however fit & hardware could use some improvements. Overall...I would rate a 4 out of 5.AFACCE82-9290-4CAD-A583-3B5A097C9CC0.jpg

    Fantastic work!

I wish the 4Runner came stock like this. Small detail that would make a big difference.

Took 7 weeks but I finally received & installed my RSG Sliders. Perfect fit & nicely powder coated. They were able to make them for me with no bump out. Can’t wait to get them scuffed up in Colorado next month!!E26DBAB0-87DD-460C-8FF5-FE8981E24653.jpg970A4943-6DEE-4F67-BB43-36355D2FBB85.jpg

    Thats looks awesome !

Would those be the matte black TRD wheels and that is magnetic Gray paint? If you have a full side view of the it could you post it as I want this combo on my rig but I am having a hard time visualizing them together.

    Thanks again,

Well I purchased the TRD skid plate with the hope that I’m smarter than the dealer. Last time I purchased it I had the dealer try to install it with them to come back a say not only they couldn’t install it , but that my lift is dangerous and needs to be removed.
I bought some color matched OEM Door Guards for my door edges. My garage is tight and my drivers door keeps getting Knicks on the edge.
The most important upgrade that anyone can do that adds 10HP I replaced the radiator cap . Why not did the oil already and plan on doing the CAI later this Spring Summer.
Lastly my ride goes in the 20th to have the roof rails and front and back valances wrapped in black vinyl.
I’ll post pics when I’m done as long as the skid plate doesn’t drive me crazy.

They're part right. Big spacers up front is not a good idea and can be dangerous. What I find funny though is the fact the readylift spacer kit is what most dealers use when they sell brand new "lifted" 4runners. If it's a street truck, you're likely fine. If you wheel it more than just easy trails, front spacers are not a good idea. As far as the skid plate goes, it should bolt on without any issues.
