    Just joined,
OK I'm a green horn mechanic and have a question. Just carefully rebuilt my 3vze and hit a stopping point. With out marking anything on the crank pull while the #1piston was at tdc, I have installed the head and covers. How do I find tdc for timing set up?

There should be some notches in the gears that attach to the cams. I'll see if I can take a pic tomorrow since my stuff is pulled apart

TK thanks, there is. So it looks like the notches on the cam pulled line up with the notches at top of metal back timing cover. Then, the timing gear lines up with the center mark on the oil pump, the dot on the bottom of the gear lines up with the line on the belt, and then the crank pull goes on 0 while the top two belt lines line up with the marks on the cam pulled. Whew. That's how I set it up before I put covers on. Do you see any issues with this plan?

No, that sounds correct to me but I'm pretty green when it comes to this stuff. Pulled a lot of it apart, have yet to try putting it back together. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in

Make sure you put the timing belt on under load or it will pull the belt out of time once you put it under load (adjust the tensioners). Ours was "tuned up" previously to our acquision and they had one side off by 3 teeth and the other side off by 1 and it ran like total shit.
