I recently purchased and installed one on my ‘19 ORP. I was concerned I would feel like I wasted money, but this has seriously been a great mod. The throttle feels much more responsive and predictable now. You don’t have to jam the pedal to the floor, but rather adjust the mode to your liking/driving style. This has helped tremendously with the Toytec lift and 285/70 KO2’s I put on, as I slightly adjusted the mode and the truck no longer feels sluggish at all.

You are technically correct but it makes a HUGE difference. it makes it feel like a new animal. Feels like it has way more power. Toyota designed a 1 second delay for some reason into the pedal and it is extremely annoying. The pedal commander eliminates that delay so it feels way more peppy and instantaneous. Best money I've spent on the 4runner

As someone who works in automotive development I can tell you that is not true. Nobody designs a full second delay in throttle response, that’s not a thing. But even if it was, that delay would be programmed into the ECM for how it should open the throttle and it’s literally impossible for a pedal commander to change any ECM maps.

Edit - I’m not trying to talk you out of it or put you down or anything like that, if you’re happy with your purchase that’s great. I’m just trying to give some factual information about what it can and cannot do.

I feel like the very beginning of the pedal is actually touchy, not overly, but not sluggish at ALL.
When starting from a stop, the 4R seems to be very responsive.
But, I feel the middle range of the pedal is quite sluggish and unresponsive feeling. And I would like to get rid of that.
Those of you running the commander, does it seem to fix that middle section of pedal travel, without making the beginning of travel a hair trigger?
It seems like if all its doing is cranking up the entire pedal range, that beginning part will be waaay too touchy.
hopefully they have a bit of a curve programmed into it.

I would have returned the 4runner to the dealership or sold it if I had not discovered the pedal commander. It may not be a full second but its definitely a delay in the pedal and extremely sluggish.

Im gonna be doing a regear soon too which will add some pep.

All depends on how heavy your foot is. For my lead foot, about .5 when I am not being good.

Anybody ever have your PC throw a code? Had mine installed for 6 months now and last week my truck went into limp mode on the highway. Got to an autoparts store and read code P2121- throttle position sensor. I disconnected the PC, cleared the code and have been driving it without it. I have an email into PC regarding the matter.

What was their response? I haven’t had any issues but have had it installed less than a week. I love it so far.

Their standard answer. Said I likely didn't have the plugs properly seated, 6 months later.

The PC sends a signal to the ecm that tells it your at say 50% throttle when you are depressing only 10%, so take two 4runners, both press the pedal 10%, the one with the PC will out accelerate the other, now the one with the PC depresses 10% and the other 50%, they both take off the same, from a red light, both floor it, both will run the same. If you don't like having to press you accelerator pedal half way to get going, then the PC might be for you, For me, Ill spend the $300 elsewhere and mash mine to the floor

I thought it made the driving experience much better. I have an almost new unit for sale on the 5th Gen Buy n sell forum for anyone in the market. I have since traded the 4 runner, hence the sale.

I’ve heard a lot of people trash talking this device and making comments about how they’ll save money and just “push their foot down further” however, everyone who actually has this device seems to think it’s a great mod and well worth the $$. I’ll be getting one for the wifey eventually.

totally agree with you. I rarely, if ever see anyone that actually has the PC say it didn't work or that it wasn't worth buying. It enhances the "less than optimal" driving performance of our rigs.

When i installed it i did not tell the wife, when she got home from work she asked if i did something to the Runner. I said why do you ask, she said when she took off she burned a little rubber, and just seemed to have better power. She likes it, i like it = win-win.

I'm one of "those" people....my pedal commander is between my ears and it commands my right foot to press the gas pedal more or less. It works awesome! I used the money saved towards more useful mods.

Again if this little electronic box was $75 or less I would probably have one. But for the price point that it is, I know how to press the gas.
