Spits gas back at me when filling up

    My 94 Toyota 4Runner says I’m going 80 when I’m only going 40 and when I try to fill it up it spits gas back at me I’m wanting to get everything fixed up I spent 3400$ on the truck

    Speedometer or speed sensor is faulty. Fuel tanks breather may be blocked causing the fuel to spit back at you.

    That was a joke.

    My guess on the gas spitting back at you is probably because the tank isn’t able to vent causing it to pressurize and burp back at you. I’d look for a clogged vent tube.

    The speedometer could be a bad speedometer, cable, gear, speed sensor? Not sure as I don’t know anything about 4runners yet or their systems. So not sure if it’s a mechanical system or electronic.

    Everybody has to start somewhere no better place to start then a 25yr old Toyota.
