This odd space...

Curious what to do with this space...
I am sure a subwoofer sits here in the 15 speaker system.
I am wondering what you all use this space for. Rope, recovery straps, tools....
Which leads to my next question. I need to find a tough case I can store all said items, plus more into in the rear hatch with the 85# GSD. I know pelican & other weatherproof cases can be used atop a vehicle I just need something that the dog won't crush!

Perfect place for all the detailing supplies. My wife won’t leave the house with either me or her completely detailing her rig.

 

I completely agree. Except I do all the washing.
However, I am looking for uses when not a daily transport.
When we head out; what do you all normally pack there?

 

Personal preference I suppose. For me, it should hold something that needs to be there every day. Not that you have to use it every day but, you want it there every day. For us, that’s detailing supplies because it’s used every single day. For other’s, it may be a tow strap so they can be pulled out of a tough spot when wheeling, or maybe it’s a bag of dog food, or a jug of water. My advice is to figure out what YOU always want with you that stays neatly in place. And that’s what that space will be for you.

 

I have a tool roll, jumper cables, and my hitch wrapped in a towel in that space.
Rest is on an Orange Boxx side window rack.

 

I keep a raincoat, gloves, and a couple of eno hammocks there.

 

My 2004 had a cover for those areas. It was kind of nice. But if you opened it up, it took a while to put everything back in and get the cover back on

I second the bike rack socket wrench. Also a couple towels and window cleaner.

 

Toe rope, trailer hitch, first aid kit (came standard with the truck), tools, the cargo nets for the back area (came standard with the truck), gloves, zip lock bags, zip ties.

 

Tie rope, first aid, tools, gloves etc will be stored in a hard case (to be determined) in the rear cargo area; that our dog can stand on & protect the jumper cables, reserve water & aboved mentioned etc. to protect all them.
I digress.

Fire Ext. air comp. and a trailer connector/extension/adapter for all my 6 round trailers.

 

I have seen people put the dual ARB air pump in there

My space looks different. I have a SR5 with 3rd row seats. I guess that causes the plastic side trim to change maybe.

 

Keep cargo net , Wire harnesses/adapter for trailers & keys for different Trailer/Receiver/Extra Boat keys

 

Battery jump-starter. When I bought my 5th gen I asked the dealer if it was missing a cover on that side. To my surprise he said no. My 4th gen had one there.

I like the umbrella/rain coat, straps ideas as well.

 

Socket set, pliers, first aid kit.
Still working on optimizing it; it's quite the tricky little spot.

 

I have started to utilize it. I need to add to ours the above photo of the fire extinguisher! It currently holds an extra quart of oil & a roll up socket set. Next are a decent set of ratcheting wrenches.
We are contemplating an ARB awning & tent setup so I may need it for a few things for that...
Obviously the oil is never needed; but better to have...
