Hi Everyone! :hattip: Well I have started this NEW thread for the OFFICIAL RELEASE of the 5TH GEN 4RUNNER POWER FOLDING MIRRORS! I first would like to thank @Jesse1983 who is a 5th Gen Moderator on T4R.org for helping me get my very first post out their in the T4R Community on this thread . My second big shout out goes to @Braves95 for his HUGE hand in the development process and getting me started on this forum HERE. Without the use of his 4Runner and knowledge of wiring, this project would probably still be in the beginning stages.

    PURPOSE:

The purpose of this feature is to add motorized functionality to the 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner Mirrors. This is accomplished by adding an actuator inside the mirror housing and using the provided harness to plug into the factory wiring through the driver’s lower dash and mirror adjust switch.

    PRODUCT DETAIL:

Mirrors will automatically fold when you lock your vehicle with your key fob. Likewise, they will automatically unfold when you start vehicle. When heading into a narrow parking space or garage, pressing the “FOLD” button on the side mirror control switch, just left of the steering column, mirrors will fold in towards the side windows. To put them back into driving position, pressing the “FOLD” button again will unfold the mirrors.

    REQUIREMENTS:

This will require removing the spring in your hinge location of your OEM Mirrors, as well as, a couple other parts to mount the actuator that is needed for this power folding feature. This is NOT 100% Plug-N-Play.

    OPTION 1
    - “5th Gen Power Folding DIY Parts Kit” for those members that are willing and able to do so themselves, but just need the right parts. This is NOT a “Beginners” Kit. This Kit includes everything you will need to install inside your OEM Mirrors. Items include: Power Fold Actuator with Wires, Connection Plate, Replacement OEM Toyota Adjust & Fold Switch, OEM Switch Wire Harness, Power Fold Motor Switch Extension Harness, Automatic Control Box for the Folding Mirrors, and All Hardware needed for inside the your OEM Mirror Modifications. Again, this is NOT a 100% Plug-N-Play Kit.

    PRICE: $325.00 (FREE SHIPPING U.S.A.)

OPTION 2 - “5th Gen Power Folding Complete Set” for those members that are not wanting to take the time to mod their own Mirrors and would rather purchase them ready to install. This is the true “Plug-N-Play” Set of Mirrors. However, you will need to modify/be able to complete some wiring with the Automatic Control Box for the Folding Mirrors. This option offers two packages:

Package A: Complete Set (2014-19, without Turn Signal)

    PRICE: $625.00 (FREE SHIPPING U.S.A)

Package B: Complete Set (2014-19, with Turn Signal and Puddle Light)

    PRICE: $725.00 (FREE SHIPPING U.S.A.)

OPTION 3 (4Runners 14+ ONLY) - “5th Gen Power Folding Complete Set Core Exchange” for those members that are not wanting to take the time to mod their own Mirrors and would rather purchase them ready to install. To qualify for this option you need to have the newer model mirrors and they need to be in good/perfect working condition. This is the true “Plug-N-Play” Set of Mirrors. However, you will need to modify/be able to complete some wiring with the Automatic Control Box for the Folding Mirrors. This option offers two packages:

Package A: Complete Set (2014-19, without Turn Signal)

PRICE: $675.00 (Refund Opportunity of $150.00, MUST be Post Marked to be Returned within a Week AFTER they have been DELIVERED)

    Package B:
Complete Set (2014-19, with Turn Signal and Puddle Light)

PRICE: $775.00 (Refund Opportunity of $250.00, MUST be Post Marked to be Returned within a Week AFTER they have been DELIVERED)

    HOW DOES OPTION 3 WORK:

Step 1: You make the initial payment of either $675.00 or $775.00.
Step 2: I send you a “5th Gen Power Folding Complete Set Core Exchange”
Step 3: You install your New Set of Mirrors
Step 4: You pay to ship your OEM Complete Set Back to Me
Step 5: I send you a Refund for either $150.00 or $250.00 once I receive your OEM Complete Set in good/perfect working condition so that I can start the process back up with another Forum Member if you met the Week Post Mark Deadline.
    Step 6: Done!

    UPDATE:

I had some questions regarding options on T4R since they noticed in my previous batch I did some custom work for some customers on their orders. I’m currently in the process of starting a build for 4Runner Owner @ and I am installing Ditch Lights for him. Once this build is complete, I will remove my pics from here and I will keep his pics up showing options that are offered. Now, with this, since I do not offer the Covers, you would need to purchase new covers or you would need to send your covers to me to be cut. Otherwise, upon delivery, you would need to cut the hole yourself.

Here are the pics of my own ULTIMATE SIDE MIRROR BUILD...

First great post. I see all the work you put into it and the mirrors. Please excuse my ignorance that shows up in my questions. Chauk it up to being a newbie. I like these and want to get some but I have some questions but to make it easy I will do it in different posts.

    1) it looks like this round you aren’t including the mirror replacement. Is that correct? Along with this mod I wanted to put in the Rav4 blind spot mirror in place of my OEM heated mirrors.

Question 2) with option 3 roughly what is the install? You indicate above that we would need to remove the spring, but that’s not clear in the option 3 write up. Note I did read the link from the other guys/girl’s post

Question 3) with option 3 if we are replacing the entire mirror, do we specify a color? And (sorry I have to ask) do I need to be worried about the look of the outer casing (ie scratches, marks etc). It sounds like you are rebuilding other people’s mirror so the question came to mind.

Oh man, the need for me is about a 1 (maybe a 0) but the want is at a 10+

kind of trying to justify it in my head for off road use. I've been in some tight spots where it's nice to fold the mirrors flat.

When you say mirror replacement, are you talking about Option 3 “Core Exchange”? I provide you a completed set of mirrors that are built and ready to go and you send me your OEM set back in return. You would be able to do the RAV4 Blind Spot Mirror Swap. I’m assuming you are speaking about the Mirror Glass. Correct?

RAV4 Blind Spot Mirror Glass 87931-42D50
RAV4 Blind Spot Mirror Glass 87961-42D20

Yes. I do offer this Option still. I haven’t changed anything from before other than some pricing. I had to increase Option 2 pricing because before I went off of Tacoma Mirror pricing and 4Runner Mirrors are more expensive with the OEM Mirrors that are required with this Kit. I also adjusted Option 3 to include the Refund Option for safety purposes for the just in case situation for protection.

Option 3. I build the mirrors for you. Removing the spring is done when you build the mirrors. I ship them all ready for you to plug the Extended Harness into the Power Folding Motor Wire Connector and run the Harness across the cab from the Passenger Side to the Drivers Side. You’ll need to run the other side of the Extended Harness up to the Drivers Mirror at that point where you will plug the Extended Harness into the Power Folding Motor Wire Connector there. Plug-N-Play Ready for you. Then you will go back to your lower dash area where you will need to run the Control Kit and the rest of the wiring harness with the Switch to the Switch Location. Plug everything in to its locations following the directions I provide. Depending on if you purchase the Plug-N-Play Harness, you will either just plug the lock wire into that or you will need to tap that wire. The last wire the ACC/IGN Wire. That will need to be connected to a Add-a-Circuit that you will need to get. You can find those at any store like Walmart, Autozone, O’Reilly’s, etc. In your fuse box under your dash area, plug that into a fuse that can provide your power source. Done!

You do not need to specify color as with all the options you keep your color matched back cover. I ship the “Core” portion of the mirror. It would be too challenging and too expensive if I got into trying to colormatch everyone’s vehicles. I found it best to just have everyone keep their back covers. Plus when you purchase a brand new set of mirrors, they don’t even come with the back cover piece either. You have to order that part separately. If someone should want me to order them a new back cover piece that color matches their vehicle I can do that. It will just be extra. I am willing to do that and I have done that.

Great. Thanks for the info. Yes I was speaking of the mirror glass. That is what started me on a search for a simple mod and found this cooler mod. And I figured color would be an issue so i wanted to confirm that it was just the core. Once again good job.

Man those vids are very enticing. I didn’t realize that I wanted/needed these, until I saw them work

Well I’m Building a Set of Mirrors Tonight and I figured out a way to do a lot less modding. Yay! I do not have to do anything to the Adjuster Actuator or the Mirror Glass Now. It stays in its original positions. I do still Modify the circle of the Housing but that’s very minor as you basically go around in a circle and that’s it. You do two modifications on the New Connection Plate, one is for the Turn Signal Connector so it has room to plug in and the other one is to drill a hole for the mounting location for the Adjusting Actuator. That is it people. I’m not really sure what people are referring to when they say they are doing a lot of research and are seeing all of the cutting and modding that is needing to be taking place. I hope they aren’t going to the How To! Threads both on this site and on my TacomaWorld Site and going off of those writeups and thinking those are what you are having to do for this kit because it’s definitely not. That is a completely different swap. That’s taking two full sets of mirrors and combining them to making power folding mirrors. Mine is a kit made for this build to make it easy. Anyways, just wanted to share the new updates. Pretty excited

I actually never removed the Glass Mirror from the Adjusting Actuator. I did remove the Adjusting Actuator Four Wires from those Clips back there because you do not need them and when you tightening the screw it also smashes them. Haha. Plus at the top you will notices thee is a little slot made just for the wires to come through. How PERFECT!

Now when I install the Ditch Light, I will be removing the BIG X Section in the New Connection Plate. I will make sure to Post some pictures.

Question: I think I missed it on here or T4R.org but what is the puddle light. I want to do the core swap and I am ready to pay you on that, I am just not sure about if I need the puddle light. I also don't currently have turn signals in the mirror but I want them, is 3B still an option for me? As in will this upgrade give the turn signals?

You would need to run your own wiring but you can definitely do it. 3B would not be an option for you because that program is a “Core Exchange” program and it would be giving you someone's Turn Signal w/ Puddle Light OEM set and then I would not be receiving the same OEM set in return to continue the process. You could however opt for Option 2B that would give you Turn Signals and Puddle Lights, which is the same as Option 3B. You just get to keep your OEMs.

You would perhaps do a hybrid here? As you stated above a 2B but with the refund of the core non turn signal style for 125$? I get I wouldn’t be giving back the same mirrors but you would be able to continue the making trend for someone else.

Can anyone tell me the Housing Connector Part No. on the OEM Connector to your OEM Adjust Switch please. You will need to pop out your Switch from your dash and read what the Part No. is on the Connector itself.
