Figured my first post should be bragging about my
    Homemade bumper!

Bought my 1991 4Runner january of 2017. It only gets 3-4 thousand miles a year, as it is a hunting truck. Decided I needed a off-road bumper, but didn’t want to spend $1200 for a bumper on a $3500 vehicle. So, I googled until I found one I liked.D448DFC5-3254-4319-85B4-D4A60E6B26B7.jpg Found this one, so then I started drawing and making changes I liked. I’ll refrain from much more writing but has a great time! I made templates, and have thought about drawing it up in autocad now! I personally like mine better than the original concept I stole online.

I used 3/16” steel for most of it, and 1/4” for the winch plate. Couldn’t justify the cost of powder coat, so I bought roll on Bedliner. All metal was bought at the scrap yard, so total cost of bumper is $140!

Next up, rear bumper and side steps! ... after CV axle replacement, and starter rebuild 2CC6E5EA-7AC8-4806-BDFC-E24BBEB4C626.jpg892E28FC-6A1D-450B-ACF3-5BE1029CF994.jpg F074A11B-909D-4A80-B2C5-82F49647688C.jpg29330DF3-1FC2-4014-851A-E1266BA188A0.jpg FC9F62B0-3B33-425C-ACD0-85D65765275B.jpg27894612-CF8F-4AFD-9F28-2BE4BBCCA98D.jpg 570A86F4-C813-45C8-94AD-4CC949BC617C.jpgCA61DFAB-1C69-4EBB-B2EB-02B82A029DE5.jpg B93783D6-C9D2-4C7F-8114-B3DDBBD58583.jpg39230CF6-0B0B-4E1B-99C2-3B0EC817750C.jpg C95DFFC8-FB0A-4FA8-A128-47AEF6327549.jpg

Looks good. Similar in design to the Addicted Offroad bumper but you made it your own. Saw you post it on SCOR too. I like it.

Looks great man! Now it’s time for a matching rear. I wish I had a garage to fabricate stuff. One day....

Ocurtis, That bumper you have made is very nice. The aesthetic is perfect and the hollow shell type construction is by far the most ridgid one can ever hope for. Would you be willing to share your template data. I just got a new regulator for my O2 gas bottle and am thinking torch cutting out the patterns from sheet stock would be the start in getting some of these made up with some MIG welding to follow. This looks so much cleaner than the Trailgear, Rock Assault's which at both ends would indeed cost more than what I paid for my 4Runner too. Seems like putting 1157 bulbs in the corner lamps would be great place to put the turn signals?

    Very nice!
I’d love a rear bumper like that with a built in trailer hitch
