My Automatic 95 4runner 3.0 4x4 has been having transmission issues. It takes about 2 seconds for it to shift into reverse and tends to rev up high before it shifts, and when it shifts it will sort of kick the car. Anybody else having this problem with this transmission? Also will take any solutions.

Sounds like a rebuild is in order.

Drain and flush see if that helps at all?

i saw a video on youtube, some guys did a tune up on the motor. spark plugs/wires and oil change and that fixed that exact issue they were having.

I had similar issues and put shutter fix in the transmission and fixed my issues. I bought 2 which cost me $20. I got it from O'Riley's auto parts but I'm sure you can pick it up at any auto parts store. It's probably a sticking solenoid. Worth a shot at least.

LEDs all around, otherwise bone stock.
Make sure you drop your pan and clean the magnets when you drain and flush or youll be worse off.

At the end of the day it may be on its way I mean it is 24 years old!! A fluid change is cheap enough just for $hit kicks even if you pay for one.

It sounds like you have too much fluid or a vent tube is clogged.

i went to look and pick it up sunday, the guy said it would go into gear fine and drive then he parked it for couple months and while i was on my way to look at it he said it would not go into gear. so i checked trans dipstick and it was empty. went and got a truck and trailer took it home, i filled it and atf started coming out of the transfer case breather on the top. nowhere else at all.

Did you just fill it while cold? If so drain out all of it. Then Add fluid until it is showing on the dipstick in the cool range. Once there start engine shift through all gears while stationary do this until trains is warmed up then Check that the fluid level is in the hot range if not add fluid a little at a time until it is.

HoBodanny update. Transmission filled and running smoothly. I must have incorrectly fulled it the first time. Found previous owner stripped drain bolt though so im goimg to change the filter while im in there.
Anything else i should do while i have the transmission pan off?

Looks like just a hose going to the silencer portion of the intake
