I think it’s for loose change but I find it collects dirt more than anything

Thats what I thought but change bonces out of there pretty easily and also, there's a change holder under the armrest. Was wondering if it was something else...

It is pretty useless, at least in my opinion.

    ...and for survival when stranded

That tray is useless unless you need a stack of quarters at hand in the vehicle at all times. So try a stack of quarters in it, I do feel that is what the design was for. Maybe they still need stacks of quarters in Japan. :notsure:

At first I thought it would fit the smart key remote but it didn't. Now is serves as a toothpick holder.

I'm guessing it was where the ashtray would have been, until the pc police got a hold of the designers.

It’s for your aftermarket off-road lights. You just add the buttons right there. :)

It is a weird / dumb(??) little space. I've kept a pair of sunglasses in it from time to time. Partly because I do not like the location of the actual glass holder up near the reading lights. Personally to me it's to far forward, the real glass holder that is. I often thought it does have a strange design with the "tab" thingies on both sides like it's meant for something specific but I'll be damned if I could think of anything.

Its where you would keep your chapstick. The designers knew we would all get chapped asses due to how slow these things are on the highway and interstate. :)

Whatever it is, it's more useful when you don't have a manual T-case.

I think it's because they had a little bit of unused space there and why not turn it into something useful? It keeps my sunglasses from sliding around. It holds loose change. It holds pens. It holds cool rocks I find. And dead bugs that my kids find. And a pocket knife. I use it all the time.

I don't use the one under the climate control knobs. Because THAT one sucks! What were they THINKING?!

The TRD PRO version is $19.95 but the packaging is a little nicer. Some people think it's worth it.:infantry:
