95 3.0 fuel problems

Have a 95 3.0 that sat for 12 years in a garage. Picked it up with 89k in November 2018. Fuel pump went out in the end of nov, so I dropped the tank, pressure washed the inside because it was pretty nasty. New fuel pump and new filter in Dec. Two weeks ago on the down side of a pass on the freeway at 70 started losing power, felt like fuel starvation. Pulled over and would only stay runnin for 5-10 seconds after. Towed it home, changed filter, dropped tank, checked pump and it works. Put it all back together yesterday and started it a few times. After I moved it out of my garage in the driveway shut it off and grabbed my stuff to go to the store. Didn’t start again. Any suggestions or ideas I’d greatly appreciate it!

 

I went through the same problem with mine. Failure was the ecm. 50$ from a junk yard and it runs like a top

 

May test the fuel pressure regulator. the rubber baffles deteriorate sometimes due to corroding gas chemistry.

 

Check the fuel rail and injectors as well

 

Thanks Dink HoBoDanny and QuietGiant I’ll have to check all of these. I had the parts for the distributor and rotor so I changed that because it looked corroded, and started back up. Ran a few times then died after I drove it down the block. Now if I disconnect the battery for 10 sec it fires up then dies again. Back in the garage.‍♂️

 

Not the ecm picked one up at pull apart and a relay just in case same thing. Wanted to know how much of a pain the intake manifold is to take off to get to the fuel injectors out. Any help much appreciated!

 

Do you have to take the intake off as well to get it out or do you just cut the long ass dick ports shorter?

 

I’m not positive on the 3.0 I know you do on the 3.4. It’s not super difficult just take your time and catalog everything. It helps if you take pictures of everything as you take it apart as well. Gives you something to reference back to.

 

Just wanted to update, ended up running out of time and taking it to the mechanic. Bad fuel pump (don’t buy Bosch). Thanks for all the help!
