    Hi everyone

It never occured to me until recently that i dont really cary anything for those oh #&#& moments.

Now i dont go off road but i do deal with some nasty weather and deep snow which is why I am looking at the limited trim model.

I am a volunteer fire police for my town so i do deal with some nasty weather and am found in some situations where most wouldn't dare go outside in the weather i deal with.

I am looking to see what you may carry and why and what you reccomend for the unexpected and just flat out oh #&%& moments.

I do not go off road.

    Thanks everyone

Nothing in the Toyota it's brand new and I don't off road either. My older Honda which is a daily driver on the other hand a tool box, "jump box" and tire inflator. Not that I'm a mechanic anyway but I guess I feel safer having "something" with me. If it were to break down I'd probably call AAA anyway. The most handy thing I've found to use most often is the tire inflator.

LEDs all around, otherwise bone stock.
Blanket, ice scraper in case caught in the cold.
Extra serpentine belt (for those of us over 100,000 miles)
Jump starter for my battery or for others that need help (jumped over 15 folks in my driving years)
    Extra temp gauge bulbs
    Swiss army knife

Honestly not much. Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. 133000 miles. Has started and ran every time I turn the ignition. Everything I've done to upgrade it was planned, eg suspension, brakes, tires, water pump, etc.

I carry a dark angel med kit, a craftsman 450 piece tool kit, fire starters, flares, blankets, water, jumper cables, emergency food blocks, tow rope, sunscreen, tire plugs. That is the everyday stuff. I add shovel, trax, and whatever else I need depending on terrain if we are going out on a weekend trip etc. Still need an air pump.

As a meteorology student, I do some storm chasing and mild to medium off roading. For nasty weather I carry blankets and towels along with plaenty of water and snacks. For any off roading and storm chasing have a tow strap and tree saver for the winch on the dirt roads that took a foot of rain. I carry a 200+ pc mechanic set two first aid kits, in case I have to render aid to someone injured. I plan on adding maxx tracks and a hi lift jack after adding a roof rack in case there are no trees to winch me out and no cell service to get someone to pull me out.

Oh and I guess you can call this a tool for an oh $&@? moment but my Ruger 9mm for saftey.

Plus if you are running in nasty weather I highly suggest upgrading your headlights.

A air compressor, tire plug kit, torque wrench and lug but socket, jump leads, small tool box.

Those are invaluable! The air compressor, plug kit, torque wrench saved my butt in the middle of Montana several years ago. Ran over something in the road that punctured a tire. Midway between Billings MT and Sheridan’s WY. Pulled over, pulled the tire and plugged it. I was back on the road 15 minutes later and that plug held for 18k miles and up until I traded the STi in on the 4Runner

Tow strap, kinetic rope (bubba rope, for any pull you can get a running start for), tree saver strap, soft shackles, a couple d rings, snatch block, arb air down tool, compressor, various tools (including a bfh), pair of treds, first aid kit, jump box, and I think that might just about it.

No off roaders carrying extra CV axle and such parts? I cant remember if I read that someone here does, or maybe it was the tacoma forums where I saw that. Not a bad idea so long as you have room for the tools and whatnot too...

i need to add an actual tow strap as well. good thread!!

I do - I carry a spare CV axle and a seal, and a spare inner and outer tied rod (really just need the inner as that's more plausible to fail/bend on a trail run; but it's easier for a trail fix to just remove and replace the whole thing as one).

I’ve got an Armalite AR-15 5/5.6 and a Ruger 22 (and several hundred rounds of ammo for both) behind my back seat at all times. Also, jumper cables, 20’ 30k pound tow strap, a 20’ chain, shovels, knives, GPS, a tool kit, some jugs of water, extra clothes and a blanket, a fire starter, and a few other misc things.
