Anyone using a Thorsen carrier in their rig? My 97 is not locked, and I am considering an eaton
tru trac. This is more of a daily driver so having a detroit locker with all that ratcheting is not an option, and trying to find a used locker carrier and housing in my area is quite impossible. So if anyone is using said Thorsen setup I would like hear thoughts?

This reply is only a year and a half late... but...

Once upon a time I had a 1988 Toy Extended Cab Pickup. I was using it to throw newspapers in the morning. I got tired of splotchy snow and ice and having to go in & out of 4WD... so I put a Lock-Rite locker in the back. It worked... for a while. I even got used to the ratcheting / clackety sound. Then it broke. So I replaced it with a TrueTrac. Loved that TT in the back end of that pickup.

Anyone reading this... if you do not have, nor need a selectable locker in the rear end of your vehicle, I highly recommend & endorse the TrueTrac.

    FWIW.

YAY, not too late, I did decide on the tru trac, just rounding up parts. When I finally get going I'll have tru trac, 4.56 gearing, Lock the front, swap wheel hub to tacoma with the manual hubs, 2" lift, re seal the oil pan and oil pump replace rod and main bearings. and got to get my hands on the 17 4runner SR5 wheels. Although I'm tempted to buy a 09ish Nissan Frontier and let someone else enjoy the 4runner.
