    Hello, All!

I am new to the 4Runner family. I have a Black 2011 4Runner. I love the truck but hate all the chrome on it. Any tips or resources for blacking it out? i just ordered black rims.

Search for "black over-lays" for whatever emblems are on your truck.

They make overlays for more than just emblems. My son has an identical 2023 Limited as mine - except his is black. He wasn't crazy about all the chrome either. He has black overlays over the Toyota emblems on the front and rear, over the chrome parts around the grill, over the door handles (the front ones have a small window so the touch lock/unlock feature still works), over the small chrome details on the lower front bumper, etc... He's pretty much covered it all. Not sure exactly what brand he bought (pretty sure he ordered this stuff from Amazon) but the fit is really good - no gaps and you can't see any of the chrome underneath. Super easy to install - they come with double sided tape already attached - peel off liner on the exposed side and press on. They have a matte black finish and look pretty good. I'm good with the chrome - I like the contrast with my MGM paint - but I'm an old dude (60) so I'm used to chrome. I will say that the chrome on a black Limited really pops - so if you dislike the chrome on Limiteds you'll really hate it on black Limiteds. With all the chrome blacked out I will say that my son's black Limited looks pretty cool.

It is expensive, frustrating and unnecessarily time consuming to black out a 2011 Black SR5 if you want to do it right.
Just the OEM black door handles will run you over $250 for example.
There is cheap Amazon crap that you could use but quality is hit or miss.
Depends on how much you want to spend.

    PS- I have a 2011 Black 4runner.

I have a Black OR and I wanted to get rid of the shiny stuff. But since I am a procrastinator and into function, I stuck with non cosmetic Mods. I dragged my feet so long that the old school look grew on me, so I left it alone. (Also, I am old)

    Hi everyone.
OP, I have a 2012 Limited that was covered in chrome. I rattle canned all the chrome with plastic dip paint. I originally did it in 2020 and it held up very well late last year. I see chrome showing in some areas so I'm going to do it again next month when the weather warms up.
Try that before you spend a lot on overlays and extra parts.
    Good luck.
