What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Light bar wired in... had the switch for months and today i find out they sent me a 4th gen version.

Wire nuts are temp. All connections are soldered and heat shrinked

Was actually yesterday, but drove to UNC super early to be the lead cyclist for the Tarheel 10 Miler. And made roughly 10,000 new friends.

 

Oil and filter, air and cabin filters all changed in preparation for a college kid move. She’s a happy old dinosaur again.

First time changing since installing metal filter housing and valvomax drain system from previous change, very happy with both.

 

I let my "brother from another mother" drive my T4R today, as he set about looking for a new ride. T4R is on his "candidate list."

 

Yes, yes, bring another to the correct side.

I was all set to pooh pooh this suggestion but when I went to place the clamps on the springs, the safety pins won't even pass the springs - so that's that. I have a friend that does a lot of suspension work who will do it for $60 so I guess I'll go that route but I was kind of looking forward to doing it myself. Of course now I will have to be more certain about where I want to set the circlip. I don't think I'll need compressors often enough to buy a set.

pulled the 4r out last night when the rain died down. no street lights. tested the 120° flood beam pattern from the pair of reverse lights.

even with an old iPhone XR and a 2016 head unit, you can make out how wide and bright the beam is cast. satisfying little mod.

agreed, correct side. 5k oil changes depending on your elevation & birth date & No Raptor

 

Got it all back together. It's totally doable by ones self. Highly recommend tapping the headlights to keep them from being scratched, something all the tubeyou guys don't show.

 

I desert explore at witching hours , often having to back out of windy narrow trails that went nowhere thank you for posting info

Yeah I’m weird. But on the outside I find it’s easier to clean bugs, and protects my lightbar lenses

 

Wife was using the treadmill in MY 4runner garage. Let her be, and checked a couple electrical tasks off the list, under the Walmart lights. Finally connected my sequential fang lights, again, now that I have the Blue Sea Systems power setup.

Looky what I found!

• Quickly repaired the snapped red harness wire by snipping the corresponding red wire and splicing via insulated 22-18awg butt connector.
• Then had to add a connector & splice the yellow blinker lead that goes to the indicator T tap…forgot I cut the wire when I was pissed during removing bumper cover lol.
• ran a corded heat-shrink gun to the rear cargo plug.

Those Walmart connectors aren't weatherproof. They are OK for interior use. Under the hood, swap them out for Deutch connectors (genuine or imitation).

 

Thanks man, Deutch are great ya I have them all over the truck. But for these lights specifically until I take the bumper cover back off, I have very limited space for my crimpers and hands, and the wires are kind of short
