Anyone had their alternator fan always running on high all the time, even when cold? I have replaced the relay switch and fan clutch. I really thought that would have fixed the issue. Next is the thermostat.

Welcome from Wisconsin! Sorry I can't be helpful, electrical stuff has been unkind to me.

I don't understand this question. On a 2001 w/the 3.4L, the radiator fan isn't electrical. What am I missing? What relay did you replace?

Why would the thermostat have anything to do with the fan? While the Fan clutch works on engine temperature, you said the engine is cold, and a new thermostat won't make the fan run slow.

    I'm missing something here.

Alright, so I jumped the gun. Replacing the fan clutch was the problem. It just takes a minute or so to warm up then goes to normal.

Temperature sensor, not relay. That was also my fault.

I found forums saying that the issue could have been the thermostat if it was malfunctioning or the temperature sensor if it wasn’t working properly either.

Thanks for the update and clarification.

Only the fan clutch could be the issue. And the only input it has is the ambient engine temperature. There is nothing electrical to look at.

If the engine never warms up then that would require looking at the cooling system and then the main culprit is the thermostat not closing properly.
