Alright gang...I must be the only dumbass here with the K&N and not afraid to own it. :crapstorm:
It is true that they don't do anything special, Ok maybe a little extra noise and that's it. I have cleaned them every 10K on both the taco and the 4R. The only thing that was a bit of a pain was the drying of the filters. And I made sure not to overload them with the oil. But yes, I don't think they provide any major benefits as the OEM. Once I run out of the red oil thing, I will throw these things and go back to regular. The throttle body do look a little cleaner than usual...but I doubt it is because of the filter. Who knows :notsure:

I used to have a K&N on an old motorcycle and I thought I remember the instructions actually said this same thing. I put 50k miles on that filter over 20 years and cleaned it once like a year after I got it (that’s when I noticed you could see daylight through the pinholes in the gauze media). Never cleaned it after that. It was an open airbox on a dual sport. It was very dirty. Maybe that’s why it didn’t wreck my cylinder lol.

The memory is fresh because I recently found the old bottle of red oil lol.

What's wrong here? Clean side is clean and dirty side is dirty.
