I’m confused. :(. I just received my aluminum RCI skid plate yesterday for my 2018 4Runner TRDORP w/KDSS and it’s a different style than the one shown. The “portholes” are not there and there are six bolt holes for mounting, not four. I don’t know which style is newer and both are shown on their website. It fits fine but IMO doesn’t look quite as good. The mixture of styles RCI is providing is kinda confusing.

The skid for KDSS and non KDSS are different. Here's mine, non KDSS which is what they picture on the website.

You’re right Chris, but it’s not pointed out on the webpage. In fact, even though it's hard to tell because they're pictured in black, both are shown. Strangely, yours with only four mounting points isn’t shown at all. I'm still waiting for the fill plate, but you can see that this plate has a very different profile from the ones usually shown.

Yeah i'm not a fan of that design at all. If you hit something with it, it'll be like hitting a wall. There isn't much angle to it which isn't great for sliding over things.

It does appear that way. We'll see if it's any better when I get the filler plate installed.

They're in my shop, I will post pictures on Monday. They're both like new, truck was never off road with those skids on it. It's the stock steel front and mid skid plate.

Here's a picture from Google just for reference. These are the same as mine however mine are in perfect shape, no damage at all. These are just so you can see the design but I will gladly post pictures of my skids on Monday.

New SR5 owner trying to get up to speed... when you say 3 pieces is the third piece the oil pan drain access piece in above pic? I'm trying to confirm if I'm supposed to have more skid plate coverage over tranny and differential (I was surprised to find out yesterday that I'm only seeing what is pictured above when I got under my truck.) I've seen conflicting answers on this on the forums as to whether the stock SR5's are supposed to have additional plates, and the two rear facing tabs on the second plate are clearly in place to join to another plate behind it. Any input appreciated.

you have the front plastic filler between the bumper and first skid, then the engine skid, then the diff and oil pan skid. There is nothing under the transmission from the factory.

Ok thanks Chris. And safe to assume that those two rear facing tabs are to tie into additional plates that must come on the TE or TRDP??

No, no one really knows what they're for. No 5th gen ever came with anything bolted to those tabs.
