My shop installed a Doorman when I broke my OEM plastic housing and said I’d prefer the metal version. It is junk!

I replaced it today myself. First off, oil leaked from the drain valve as soon as I unscrewed the cap. Second, the gasket around the valve fell right off. Third, the drain valve would not accept the plastic drain tool, it just dribbled here and there. Fourth, the inner tube assembly fell apart when I pulled off the dirty filter. The tube popped right off the bracket, and the bracket itself had dislodged from the bottom of the housing. I’ve honestly never encountered a crappier automobile part. Yikes!

That review right there should discourage anyone from ever even considering a Dorman filter housing. Scary. Sorry you had to be the Dorman guinea pig...

Thank you for the heads up!

Your experience reinforces why I stick with OEM parts.

So then, how do you feel about your plastic intake manifold and plenum? Just saying...

I'm with you though, I don't like the plastic for the oil filter. I have purchased the OEM aluminum from Toyota. Will install at next oil change.
