We own 4 4Runners. My daily driver is a 2024 TRD Pro. When I drive our 2019 TRD Pro, which has 75,000 miles on it, I am amazed that I can’t even tell the difference between the 2019 and my 2024 model. The 2019 still feels tight, and the suspension is spot on; it rides like it is brand new. We have owned many vehicles over the years, and nothing has aged as well as this car.

I believe if you drove my 2011 you would say the same. Amazing quality.

I feel the same about my 2015 SR5P.

This is my 3rd 4runner. I've had a 1st gen and 2nd gen. Have always loved the quality of these 4Runners!

Curious why you bought a second, or fourth, one if the first one is that good?

Yep - one of the main reasons I bought a 2023 4Runner was because my daily driver for 13 years before that was a 2010 Tacoma 4WD TRD Sport. I've always bought new vehicles and kept them for at least 10 years - same for my wife's vehicles. We bought quality vehicles since before we were married - Acura/Honda mostly. The 2010 Tacoma was the first Toyota we ever owned and it was also the first 4WD vehicle we ever owned. Before that it was all coupes, sedans, minivans. We maintain our vehicles very well and we drive them for a long time. Even though I owned good quality cars/minivans and maintained them well - none of them compared to the Tacoma in regards to how it drove/handled once it got to 100K miles. I understand that I am comparing a vehicle with a heavy duty 4WD suspension to vehicles that were designed for lighter use - but that Tacoma drove as nice at 145K miles, when I gave it to my son, as it did when I drove it off the dealer's lot. I decided, while driving the Tacoma, that I would never not have a 4WD vehicle. After driving the 4Runner for the last two years I may never not have a Toyota truck/SUV.

I am on my 8th and last 4runner, each one drove great, no rattles or squeaks. I purchased a new Sequoia in 2002, sold it to a buddy and he still owns it, drives it daily and it has over 600k miles, no rattles or squeaks. Toyotas from Japan tend to be high quality .

I've had an '84 (should of kept it) a '90 , a'15 SR5 and now a 2019 TRD ORP. My 2019 drives better than the day I got it almost 3 1/2 years ago. Also had an 03 Sequoia, 06 Sequoia and an 07 FJ. The FJ ranks right up there with my 4runner, even though it was an early 06 build. Japan build quality back then definitely better.

I bought one for my daughter. Then one for my son. And then one for my other son. Finally after driving theirs I bought one for myself. We are invested.

The only perceived difference between my (former) 2000 Limited and (now) 2021 TRD Pro is the effects of weight. Went from sub 4000 lbs to about 5,000 ibs (I have added a number of mods).

Prior to the 2000 Limited I drove an 87 (new) Pathfinder. Put just under 400,000 miles on that one and after having driven it on parts of the Rubicon and a couple of Sierra Treks it started to ride not so nice. Replaced all of the steering and suspension bushings, replaced the torsion rods and added a steering damper...et voila good as new. That said, there's something different about the material quality of the 'disposable' goods on these trucks that just seems to last longer than most other company's. That or like how Toyota has overspec'd the 1GR-FE engine seems to imply they've done the same with most of the other components on these trucks.

Sans the needle bearing sagas some are experiencing.

A good friend of mine has had six of them since the '90s.
One he sold to a friend, bought a newer one. Sold that one to friend's sister, bought another.
Third and sixth ones are still in service at his house.
Fourth one one is with one of his kids. Fifth one got totaled in 2015. (Held up well!)
He's looking for #7 now, planning to give #3 to another of the kids.
I know #3 (2002) has about 240k miles on its odo, and I believe #6 (2006) is showing over 220k now.

my 2011 (170k) is the same way, but I attribute that to not beating the piss out and the Bilstein suspension.

Everyone's reasoning is different. In our case, we bought a 2nd one identical to our first '23 because I was originally going to by a 200 Series Land Cruiser, but Toyota throttled the production so hard the wait list was insane and I never got my allocation. After we were sure the supply was exhausted on the J200s, I got one 4runner first, liked it so much, decided "what the hell" and got a 2nd identical one for the missus to later pass down to one of the kids.

I'd do the same thing if I could. Heck, I'd love to have a spare in the garage for myself!
