Will the outside mirror auto-tilt when in reverse? I watched a couple of videos on YouTube but wasn't able to get my mirrors to tilt down when going in reverse. I have a 2015 SR5 Premium edition if that has anything to do with it.

Yes, I searched the forum but maybe I'm not using the right keywords because I didn't get any hits.

If you’re talking about side mirror tilting down (like older BMW X5 among others) to see the parking lines for example, I don’t believe the 4Runner does that (at least mine doesn’t)

can you link the video you’re talking about? Could be aftermarket installed?

    Oooh look, another mod.....
The toggle switch has to be on the L or R, not in the center for it to work.

I didn't find a 4Runner specific video, just videos on other Toyota models.

That part I understand, but it didn't work on my 4Runner. Does this feature work on yours?

No clue. I haven't ever noticed it. But I'll try it tomorrow morning when I leave for work. If I remember, that is.

This is not a feature the Runner has. I don’t think any Toyota has this.

I've seen several YT videos of other Toyota models that have this feature, so it does exist. My wife's old 2011 Honda Pilot had this feature and it was nice to have when backing into a parking spot. Would be nice if the 4Runner had it too but I'll survive.

Just tried on my 19 TRDP and nada. I think my uncle’s RX does this but mostly see it in Hondas.

My daughter's 2010 Lexus RX350 has this on her mirrors. I've never heard of a 4Runner with this feature.

No. Part of the charm of the 5th gen is that it lacks features that other cars offered decades ago.

For instance, my 97 Grand Cherokee had auto headlights.

I checked this morning and it does not work for me. I had the mirror toggle switch in the center, then the left, then the right. Doesn't work!

    I have a 23' SR5 Premium (That's what the 40th really is, a SR5P with a few more options).

If you want it, buy a gx. I miss the tilting mirrors and rain sensing wipers that my gx had, my Lexus also had less road noise.
