Other than wrapping it, which i dont want to afford right now considering i just spent almost 3k on mods to get the look i wanted, does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to help with door chips under window from new XT tires? 20250119_131717.jpg 20250119_131617.jpg 20250115_152535.jpg

Your chosen look (wheel offset) pushes tires out past where the wheel wells are as effective at catching rocks. The running boards will help a little but you might as well get used to it.

I have never understood tire poke. For this very reason. Dumbest trend ever.

That's what splash/Mud flaps are for.

I should have known their would be some drama queen on here responding with their opinions and negativity.... but to the helpful ones that aren't just stalking the forum for a bite, I will look into a splash/mud flap.

There are various extenders for the wheel well flares available. Pretty much all are black plastic.

You could also have PPF applied to the entire door pannel. I really appreciate the protection it provides on the front of my 4R.

Yeh dude the OEM front mud flaps are really good at fixing what your problem is, them along with those running boards will effectively protect almost all of the door and rocker paint.
These are the china copy of the OEM, they are what i have and what i think actually looks the best and fits the best. They have a squared off bottom which in my opinion looks the best when you have wider tires. This isnt a great pic but you can zoom in on the flares and see the bottoms are more squared but fit the lines of the vehicle. When coupled with your side steps you should be able to block off most anything from hitting the rockers and door.

I noticed in the pix, you have the OEM rears on, but not the fronts. Thats kinda weird cause Toyota either
    1) doesnt include them on the vehicle
    2) sells them only as a set of 4
    3) if they are port installed there would have been a whole set of 4 installed

Dont know what happened to the rest of my post so I'll re-iterate...

I noticed that from your pictures you do have a rear splash/mud guard but missing from the front? While guards help I need to add that only helps when traveling in a straight line but as soon as you turn the wheel even the slightest bit your front wheels will still throw stuff up onto the sides of your rig...

    mudsplash.jpg

Applying protective film is about the only thing that will really make a difference in paint protection, coatings are a myth that only makes it easier to wash off dirt/mud...does nothing to protect paint from flying rocks/pebbles...

I wondered why the front was missing also. Now after looking back at before mod photos, the front ones were on too. I'm going to ask my tire guy about this, just hadn't had a chance to look at before pics until now and realize they were on!20241109_220855.jpg

Oh this Sassyfras isnt going into the mud like that Photon, IF i have to meh-ok I'll do what I have to do, but in GA we don't have tan/brown mud, we have GA clay and that shit don't play, its fun and slick when it's wet, but when it dries you're going to weigh about 5x the amount u did going in...+ that's what my TTR125 is for. I don't want to play in my grocery gitter.;)

Maybe your tire guy pulled them off, assuming they were going to rub.
With a 2" lift you shouldnt have any rubbing with 285/55-20 tires on the mud flaps. Yes they will rub on the inner fender against the front bumper and the inner fenders need to be clipped forward. I have not had any rubbing on the mud flaps with 285 and 305s.

Oh you Georgia folks are known for your mud! (yeah, I've watched a few 'Mud Run' vids). We do have clay mud out west, just gotta know (hint: desert) where to find it :) That pic was taken after driving through a couple of 'puddles', nowhere near bogging...not by a long shot!

The SR5 and other models like it have mud flaps that are rounded on the bottom outside corner. This exposes a fair bit of the tire to the door, and yes when turning it doesnt get better.

These squared style cover a bit more of the tire. Here are the differences .

Yes, my hubs told our mod guy not to put the front flaps back on after I got the new tires & wheels, they would torn them off he said.
Here's some pics you can't help but love, our buddy Chris's 85' or 86' Toyota giving it hell to get out of a mudhole in Goosepond! (its a bunch of dirt rds and mudholes you can ride for hours and never run into society) but he did not get out of that 2nd hole, side by side ended up hooking to him on the 2nd photo. That thing still runs like a top.

Seen plenty of those ditches along the 85 heading down to Tallassee. Now your buddy had to of known there was a ditch there right? Guess he gave it the beans and kept sliding that rear end right off the mudhole by the looks of the tracks!

    Great suggestions here with flaps
I also like EZ Flares, they’re flexible, not Plastic
