A couple of simple questions about the radio controls
    1. Why does the “up” button on the steering wheel take me “down” through the preset stations? From preset 4 to preset 3 etc? Did I program something incorrectly?
    2. Is there a button that moves through Sirius stations one by one or do I always have to use the controller knob?
    3. When I push the right control it does nothing. Is that right? On most cars pushing that takes you to the radio fader controls. Or something anyway.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
    1) Up is = Next track. Down is = Repeat track. (when playing usb media) So when you use it for radio/SiriusXM it acts odd also.
    2) I always used the screen to scroll through Sirius channels.
    3) Which right control are you referring to? Show us a picture. If it's the controller on the left hand side of the steering wheel, that is the volume up button.

1-Next track? Like a CD? I only use that button to go through the presets. Up is down in preset number. Down is up.
3- The round, right hand knob.
The left one controls volume, and on-off if you push it. The right one is the tuner, turning it changes frequencies or Channels. Pushing it does nothing that I can determine. My old Pathfinder used it to control various radio functions. Fader. Bass etc.
My 2024 4Runner has a few outdated features like a tissue box holder under the lid of the center console that designed to hold the “travel” tissue box that hasn’t been sold in years.

Yeah, in my opinion, those steering wheel audio controls (I have a '24 Limited) are counter intuitive. I expected the up button to turn up the volume and the down button would turn down the volume. I also expected the right button to go to the next preset or track and the left button to go to the previous preset or track. The way Toyota designed the controls makes no sense to me.

Yep - but if you are like me, I don't think of my preset radio stations as preset 1, 2, 3, etc... I think of them as 93.1, 93.9, 96.7, etc... I originally programmed by radio presets such that 93.1 was preset 1, 93.9 was preset 2, etc... Then like you, I kept hitting the "up" button on the left of the steering wheel to change from 93.9 to 96.7 - but it would change to 93.1. I tried just thinking backward and pressing the "down" button when I wanted to go to a higher radio frequency. I finally just changed the presets so that preset 1 is the highest frequency and the last preset is the lowest frequency. Now when I hit the "up" button I'm going to a higher frequency radio station and "down" goes to a lower frequency station. You are right though the right/left button should scroll through the presets - right button goes preset 1, 2, 3... - left button goes 3, 2, 1... and the up button should increase the volume and down button should decrease the volume. The way Toyota did it is not intuitive.

The up, down, left, right audio controls we are referring to are in the button cluster on the left of the steering wheel. Their button position setup to control the audio is counter-intuitive to me. But then again, the Japanese traditionally (I believe) write top to down then to the right, instead of left to right then down like we do, so they communicate their traditions differently than we do.

For audio, I think up volume and down volume and in the radio protocol from old car radio displays of stations and tracks are hortzontal (except some old German radios) and displays left/lower frequencies and right/higher frequencies (like my 2007 Tacoma steering wheel controls). This setup makes no sense to this old American. The right side button cluster for the settings display, on the other hand, makes perfect sense.

The volume adjustment makes no sense to me either.

"I love this song. Turn the volume.....RIGHT!!!"
