That's a good idea. I may consider this although I am not opposed to running a few wires either. I like to tinker and this seems like a good project

Does anyone know if the rear cargo dimensions for the 4th gen and 5th gen are the same? I’m trying to find a rear cargo mat and there seem to be more options for the 2010-2024 models

All I can help with is the Rear Cargo Volume for the 4th gen is: 42.1 cuft and for the 5th gen is: is also 42.1 - - - I'd say go for it!

Right on! That's a great upgrade! I like that they build them in Aluminum and that they are actually thick enough to be used! Did you go full hoop or leave it flat on top?

The aluminum is what sold me! I went with full hoops for as much protection as possible from animals. There are quite a few deer in my area. I also almost hit an elk while in Colorado earlier this year so its been on my mind since that happened.

I ordered a 2003 LX470 transmission oil pan and a dipstick/tube from a 2002 LX470. I’m going to try and swap the pans on my 06 4runner with the A750E. I’ll be updating how things go here on TacomaWorld

Is there a drain or something? What's the advantage of the LX pan?! I love OEM+ updates!

The LX470 pan just has provisions built in for a dipstick to check the level, where as the stock 4Runner trans requires you to get the fluid to a certain temp to check it. I also like to use the dipstick tube with a very small funnel to fill the trans when doing a drain/refill

Yeah the whole sealed transmission/lifetime fluid thing is crazy to me. Im also adding a big hayden 698 cooler at the same time.

I’ll post an update here as well if you’d like. I am hoping everything comes in this week so I can try to swap it this weekend

Hey, an update...that adapter was working great but then started skipping intermittently, which had been mentioned in some of the reviews. I returned it. With that said, there are other options similarly priced. I'm back to wired for now.

Built an extension harness for my horns, relocated them, and mounted my Hayden 698 trans cooler on an Iconic Fabrication aluminum bracket. Still waiting on some supplies, but hope to swap pans and plumb the cooler up this weekend

I finished up my 03 LX470 transmission pan swap and cooler today.

I plumbed the cooler up first - I’ll be changing out those two worm gear clamps for some constant tension clamps soon
    IMG_4877.jpg

Here’s a comparison of the pans. I got everything installed this evening. The dipstick and tube is from a 2002 and the pan from a 2003. From what i can tell, 1998-2003 parts should all work.

Everything bolted right up but i had to bend the dipstick tube a little to clear the exhaust manifold stay bracket. I zip tied the tube to the valve cover but I’m going to come up with another bracket or way to secure it to the valve cover. There is an open threaded hole on the back of the valve cover that would work well for this. Overall though, super simple swap. I changed the filter out today too and ended up using 4.75 qts and also 10oz of lubeguard platinum.

Today I discovered something I didn’t know. The DRLs will not illuminate with the engine running and the parking brake applied. I thought something was wrong with the relay, but then thought, “It can’t be the parking brake.” But it was.

That's how you "ghost" yourself when the engine is on...or you hardwire an "All off" switch...

URD 3” catback installed. I went with the side exit so I can roll the back window down while driving without be fumigated. It’s a little louder than stock but I like it so far. I might end up adding another muffler in the tailpipe section if I change out the y-pipe later on. There’s plenty of room even with a 265/70r17 spare back thereIMG_4891.jpg

Thank you! Iconic fabrication makes some nice brackets so it mounts super clean. Just had to relocate the horns to the other side

Help me out here, guys…there’s something missing, but I can’t quite put my finger on it. ;-)

    IMG_0210.jpg

I took that the other day when I got my gauge cluster changed over to white backlighting. I had used the kit from to do my HVAC, but didn’t feel comfortable soldering on my cluster circuit board, so I had him do it for me. (There’s no kit to do the cluster, you have to source the tiny LEDs yourself. I bought some from Amazon before deciding not to DIY, so if anybody wants to try it, let me know and I’ll make you a deal. There are videos on YT on how to do it.)

I’ve seen pictures before and thought, “Yeah, it looks better than the orange, but is it that big a deal?“ Well, now seeing it in person, it really is an amazing difference and not just at night.

I also had him change the airbag light on the HVAC over to white so that everything matches. That’s not included in the HVAC kit because it’s a tiny LED that has to be soldered. Also, now the off and on lights for the passenger airbag are red and green respectively.

The triangles can’t be changed, and I left a few things on the cluster such as the needles & four-wheel-drive symbols in the original orange. Those can be changed, but I don’t mind that color and to me, it’s kind of a homage to be original.

Thanks! It’s pretty tame until you put your foot down and then it gets louder. Deeper tone than stock as well but no drone so thats a plus. I was a little worried it was going to be too loud but I am happy with it. I’m running secondary cats so that helps with the volume level

This looks much more updated! How much does this cost to get what you had all completed? Hmmmm, I wonder...
