My wife's certified preowned 2024 4Runner is making a weird whistle noise soon after killing the engine. We got it just before Christmas and it only has a bit over 15k miles. I only noticed the noise after she killed the engine as I was unloading the car with groceries. I am hoping someone here could provide some insight as to what this is. This is our first Toyota so we aren't sure if this is normal. I have recorded the sound from under the hood and from the outside. The links to the video are below. Any help/tips/insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
That noise is normal. My 2023 makes that exact same sound. Not all the time, but most.

I was really worried when I first heard it. Then others on this site told me they have it too. It's one of the many "Quirks & Features" of your beloved SloRunner.

Normal smog pump shutting down sound (in front of the airbox). It will also make noise from the rear end after parked for a few hours. That's just an EVAP self test.

Thanks for the video! I've been hearing it too, but hadn't yet worried enough about it to ask.

Heard it the first time after I parked my ‘14 FJ in the garage. Initially thought something blew out, until I realized it’s normal.

Preemptively, you’ll also occasionally hear a buzzing from underneath the rear, even though the truck is shut off. That’s your fuel vapor system, also normal.

4Hopper, man, I appreciate that. I'll let the wife know this now so that when it happens, she isn't blowing up my phone in hysterics. :toast:
