Have a watch of some old episodes of the original Top Gear UK, hosted by Clarkson. In your face, honest and extremely funny.
It was the best automotive show ever. Not this nonsense they have on these days.

I only watch YT videos when I need help for something - I don't browse so I have no idea what is being talked about here.

I am, however, a huge fan of top gear and Jeremy Clarkson. My free streaming service is tuned to the 24/7 top gear UK station so I still watch a lot of reruns, even if they're 20+ years old and outdated. Sad that the grand tour is over but looking forward to the next season (or few) of Clarkson's Farm

Tinkerer approaches things in a way that is intelligent. Makes it much harder to create content because you can’t just parrot nonsense.

 

Scotty isn't doing that. I watched the video despite my better judgment, so I can comment on it while fully informed. That wasn't a well-researched video, it actually was full of factual errors (turbos and torque curves), omissions (5th gen frame rust issues), and missing information (Toyota TGNA platform, Taco = 4Runner, etc.)

If Scotty was an actual car enthusiast instead of playing one on TV, he would have covered the following content:

1. Go over recent Toyota TGNA issues
2. Cover new Taco issues, explaining that likely to spill into 4Runner.
3. Examine real world mileages for the new vs. old 4Runner in terms of cost savings on gasoline.
4. Speculate on increased lifetime maintenance costs due to turbo and hybrid. Pull up some figures for parts and hourly costs on turbo replacement, hybrid battery replacement to give viewers understanding of these changes in terms of repair costs.
5. Contrast this with existing track record of 5th Gen maintenance costs.
6. To be fair to Toyota - cover 5th Gen frame rust issues and explain how Toyota is addressing it in 6th gen with better frame design and factory applied rustproofing inside the frame.

Instead it was "It still has V6" low-information click bait.

 

Ya, he should have a YouTube class, with those 6.44 million viewers I bet he laughs all the way to the bank every month. I've seen some of his vids, I can always seem to come up with something better to watch!

 

That guy is the YouTube equivalent of those women on the The View.

He says the most outlandish shit possible, to get clicks and views, which thus lead to ad dollars in his pocket. And just like the women on the view he does not care who he offends or if he is even right.

Just because I dislike Scotty doesn't mean he lives in my head rent free. The only time I ever even think about his channel when one of his videos gets posted on here.

Seeing the frenzy this thread got into bashing him, he absolutely should keep pumping out "Toyota is going down because Turbos" videos and send this whole site into a tizzy and get everyone to hate watch it. LOL a freaking money printing machine he got going on.

I don't even usually watch his channel but I am LMAOing at the sewing circle mutual affirmation of the anti-Scotty wine club. Really makes my work on-call weekend more entertaining.
