It’s on my driver side 2023 orp next to the fog lights, the wires seem to be going to both fog lights so I’m assuming it’s a relay for the fog lights? I’ve had a few other 5th gens with led factory fog lights and I’ve never seen this module before and it’s factory I bought my truck right off the delivery truck (2023 orp with tech package so has the front camera but doesn’t seem to be connecting to that)
Anyone know what it is? Thanks

no it’s completely oem unless they added it at the port it connects to both fog lights it appears but the way it’s mounted it looks completely oem and like I said i n bought it right off the truck at the dealer I saw them off load it I didn’t even want them to do a pdi (pre delivery instruction) on it since I didn’t want those clowns touching it they did a half ass one like in 40 minutes so there’s no way they added it at the dealer and the way its mounted it’s oem clips there’s no way the dealer would install it line that

That is the connector from your engine bay harness to the sub harness for the front fog lights. The unoccupied spots have rubber weather seals which is the gray and red you see.

interesting that’s what I figured. I don’t recall my 2021 having it when I replaced the fogs on that one but maybe it was in a different area on that one

not a relay they look way different. This is a weatherpack connector for the lights.

    This is a relay.

They changed the wiring for the fogs sometime between 2021 and 2022MY production I believe (don't quote me on that). It used to be that the fog wiring was part of the engine bay harness, and was retained on the body shell when taking the bumper off. Doing it this way meant disconnecting a single connector before pulling the bumper so that it didn't hang by the fog wire on one side while trying to disconnect the other. Makes sense from an assembly standpoint too, in that instead of having to hook up both lights when placing the bumper at the factory, it was just a single connector.

TBH, I don't know why some changes occurred during specific model years towards the end of this generation. Makes me wonder what was held back that could have been improved on earlier.

ok that totally makes sense thank you for clarifying this!
On my 21 I just had to unclip a single connector like you said when I replaced those fogs with Baja designs

Agreed. It's a connector only. Not a module. But it is interesting that the wires in it are a twisted pair. I usually only see this in "bus" communication wiring.

Agreed, usually twisted wire pairs are bus communication wiring. However, it really depends on on the harness manufacturer and what they decided to do now a days at least from my limited observation. Some twisting is for strain relief, or the harness itself is concentrically twisted for strain/flexibility (the body harness on the driver and passenger is actually semi-concentric (not sure if that is the proper term for it, but it is how I would describe it)). In the case with our 4Runner's there are a couple of circuits that have twisted wiring pairs that are not bus related. When in doubt with modern vehicles, go by the wiring diagram.
