Just wanting to give a heads up to anyone ordering morimoto products.

Placed an order for new fog lights to fit in factory location and replace factory LED housing.

Received product and compared to the factory assembly and noticed they did not match. The issue is that you receive a part marketed as "direct replacement and original spec" which requires cutting and modification to install. Basically you need to trim off moumting ears meant for other applications in order for them to fit. I will let you decide if that means OE and direct fit. After you do this you own the product and have no warranty.

The kicker is the warranty states if you modify or alter their product and then the 10 year warranty is void. You search for instructions which are not included, "Have to remember this is 2024, searching online and find instructions for the product" wording states that you need to modify the assembly for install.

I am currently awaiting return RMA agreement to send back these fogs since their warranty void if I installed them. Downside is they got you by the balls and a hair or three, there is a fee incurred to return their product for 10% plus shipping due to their deceptive sales practices.

    Morimoto website words....

“ The Morimoto fog lights are expertly crafted to match all OE specifications to ensure perfect fitment and hassle-free install."
"They're designed as a direct replacement for the factory fog lights."
    • "OE Fit & Installation: The XB Evo and Evo+ fogs are expertly crafted to match all OE specifications to ensure perfect fitment and hassle-free install.”

In option for disputing the cc charge for deceit? Seems like a scam to me. Have you called and told them the issue? A good company would do a free return and update their website description.

Does the actual product look like the pictures?

I see four tabs on each light. If it's like the DD bracket, the inboard tabs slide into slots in the bumper cover, while the outboard tabs are secured with screws.

Can you annotate the picture to show where you think cutting is needed?

I put Morimoto fogs in my 2019 TRD Off-road and found they fit well. There was a bit of work to get all the bolts to line up, but that just meant making the plastic move a bit. But that was a minor issue.

I don't know why yours didn't fit, but Morimoto worked just fine for me (and I suspect thousands of others).

Yes that is the product, inboard tabs with holes need to have a portion cut off since they protrude too far and do not allow the light to center in the opening.

Cutting is notated in morimoto’s instructions. They did not want to manufacture a bracket and just use one universal bracket for all toyota vehicles it seems.

Obviously I can alter the tabs, but it is morimoto claims and marketing that are not factual which is the issue. Also stating if you alter the product that warranty is void and unable to return for any reason.

Only two screws towards the outside of the vehicle are used, not 4. This is toyotas design. Believe it has changed from previous model years. The tabs towards the inside of the vehicle are captured in the bumper cover.

It is up to morimoto at this point and we will see how they want to handle the return.

Seems to me the only reasonable thing for them to do is not void the warranty or the ability to refund the items if modification was required for installation.

Or another option for them is to simply not call them universal and list out applications where they fit without modifications.

Or they can rework the housings and sell brackets that are specific to vehicles.

The morimoto brand sells some expensive lights that, put kindly, tend to have a lifetime that is much lower than OE components. If they want to sell them without a warranty, and no-returns, then they need to price them like Temu/Amazon no-name lights.

Received an email for RMA agreement to send in the fogs at my cost and no statement on restocking fees.

I placed a factual review of the item on their webpage and they did not post the review, so they are filtering them from consumers.

I replied to the email requesting a return label on their behalf and asked about why they were filtering my review, but have not received a response after multiple days.

That’s hysterical. I knew companies did that. Always be careful when reading reviews on their website. I have DD and absolutely love them.

I can say that these fog lights are the most useless lights i have in the 4R. They don't do crap and I am very much disappointed. I have the full front and tail lights from morimoto and they do ok, but the fog lights are a waste.
