A lot of limited have 3rd row and higher capacity. That extra 300lbs is for 3rd row. I got air bags for my rear coils. $120 gets 1000lbs. You're alright with what you got

Reviving a dead thread. Went to the dump today and found out I weigh 5460 with a half tank of gas and my fat ass in the driver seat. Guess that means I still have 6300 - 5460 = 840 lbs for passengers and cargo.

If the original max payload capacity was 1495, guess that means between the KDSS (or whatever reduced original payload before I bought), the mods I've made, and my fat ass, they all weigh a total of 655 lbs. Sounds like a bit much but I'd have to take a look at the yellow modified payload sticker and my mod spreadsheet to see how close that calculates.

Question - since we are talking GVWR vs payload capacity, am I doing that math right? I know some of the added weight are the heavier tires (unsprung weight), which would add to GVWR but isn't necessarily payload (which I consider sprung weight). Either way I think I'm good - I doubt with passengers and gear I ever add an additional 840 lbs. I think if I went steel for the low pro bumper and full skids I'd be over though. And definitely if I did all steel then added a full rear bumper.
