    I got curious since they showed the 300 series LC, so I looked it up

    A J300 series in Australia starts at $AUS104,712 with a diesel engine.

    That's about 65k US. That's only 9k more than the base 4 cylinder 250 they sell here and 2.5 more than the mid trim 250.

    Their Fortuner, the closest counterpart to the 4R, starts at $AUS58737, converts to 36.5k US, and standard with diesel, 4wd and rear locker, based on the Hilux.

    I just think racing the LC in the stock class at the Dakar is badass. I’d have no qualms dropping $65k on a truck with Dakar DNA and lineage. As far as the 4Runner, it is what it is. I love mine and have no buyers remorse there. Also wish there was better coverage of the Dakar rally. Last year’s recap from TLC.
