When I retired I thought I would get a job working at one of the rock quarries near by operating hvy eq. for some extra mad money.
But instead I gave up my CDL and just help out some of my neighbors with some light yard and field work with their own tools and light equipment. Any odd job is ok by me whether it's plumbing, painting or dirt work. I don't ask for payment but they are very generous to donate to my mad money jar. And as long as they feel good about that, I'm good with it too.

Yeah I totally understand that! Sometimes less of an evil is still way better! I finally had a m-f but the pay sucked so bad so I ended up back in the 24/7/365 paying the bills!

I can attest to the quality. I had the same set on my ‘21 SR5P. They served my purpose at the time.

Well as long as your got a roof over your heads, gas in your tank, food on the table, and happy Mrs./Mr. (or whatever that floats folks boats these days) you're more blessed than you realize. And if all you do is small odd-end jobs, and it covers your needs, then you're doing good.

I did the radiator and engine block drain and fill. I also put on new upper and lower radiator hoses and a new cap. It took 2gallons of coolant. The last few ounces went to the overflow. I’m at 112k on my 2019.

That’s good work you’re doing and a kind mentality
My father in law (and brother in law) operate heavy eq.
Father in law retired and does exactly what you’re doing, light eq. for his neighbours, and for friends. And the man is super handy all-around like you sound to be. It’s a dying bread man.

    Life is full of mistakes.

Like doing the viper clearance cut lol.

Big mistake not painting the inner steel face of my BMC…I think it was left raw and is covered in decent surface rust.

Starting the wire wheel, wire brush, rust converter paint process right now :frustrated:
(perhaps I work the area best I can till it’s a satisfactory paintable surface, and then hit it with simple fluid film/pblaster after paint?)

CarTrimHome tailgate lights came in. Installation took a lot more effort than expected. Build quality isn't as good as their map light I installed in September. Each light has 3 small wires soldered to a PCB with no strain relief, causing the solder joints to break. I had to resolder them, put heat shrink on the wires for protection, remove a bulb holder tang to avoid chafing, and add a zip tie for strain relief. End result is satisfactory - brighter than Meso's at half the price, and in stock:

Each light is selectable between white and red. Both colors are dimmable:

That roll of heat shrink is looking pretty nifty. Like the case and the separation.

Finally installed the third brake light that I got awhile ago (busy watching tv). I like how it blends in perfectly.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Question, are these the backup cam (relocated) and a rear dash cam mounted outside?

Camera to the left is the backup (had to relocate when I use the trailer. Middle camera is a full time view so I can keep an eye on the trailer. I have a flip up monitor on the dash. I flip it up when I need it.

Oil change and tire rotation. Then helped my daughter change the oil on her car. Then changed the oil in my wife's car. Then changed the Sienna's oil. Apparently, that's what happens when Costco has oil on sale.

    Phew... time for a nap.

Nope, you're doing it wrong. Slide under the vehicle, pull the drain plug, take a 15 min. nap while you're under it, drain plug back in, finish that and on to the next vehicle. Also don't leave any body parts exposed that can be kicked to rudely awaken you.

AVS P/N 23071 hood deflector arrived in a hilariously large box about a foot taller than the 4Runner. I bought it to replace the punctured OEM accessory hood deflector that came with my 4Runner. Installation was straightforward following this and @kmeeg's videos, except AVS now includes hardware for 8 locations instead of 6, as per current instructions. The little bumper buttons included are way too small to do anything, so I didn't bother installing those.

Drove the 2011 to lunch with my wife then to Whole Foods. Than to Ikea, then home.

Oil change in my 2019 yesterday and oil change in daughters 2015 Tacoma today. Wish 5th gen was as easy and quick as the 2nd gen Tacoma.

I thought those videos detailing the relocation just moved the oem plug by unclipping the harness connectors to the frame, not adding an extension...am I missing something?

Trailer connector relocate, tint, work lights, Pro wheels.
I found an inline extension and moved the OEM plug.

No, you're not missing anything. I haven't received my new relocation bracket yet so I haven't tried yet. There's conflicting stories if the OEM harness will reach the relocation bracket or not. I just wanted to find out about the extension harness in case I did need it.

If only that discount continued to today...
But still... any idea why Toyota has two different products that appear to be the same?
