Amber fog light covers…. they look great when the lights are off. However, when the lights are on they look like complete ass. It’s hard to take a good, representative picture . I can’t believe that no one else has encountered this? IMG_4641.jpg

My recollection is a little hazy..... but on my '24 ORP there was an option on the window sticker for what I think was "high power fog lights"..... or something to that effect. I think it was a couple hundred dollar option. I wouldn't have opted for them but they came with the truck. I assume they are all LEDs? Maybe that is what isn't working well with the Lamin X decals? I'm certain I put them on well with no air bubbles.

You may be on to something, the overlays came out before the fogs went to LED. I almost pulled the trigger on the yellow covers, but after researching it seemed that fog light position was more important than color.

That appears to be the beam pattern in the center. I believe that the new Morimotos are the same way.

I bought a set about a month ago but haven't had the time to put them on yet. How did you put yours on...did you take the lights out or install them with the lights still on the truck?

You don't have to take the lights out. You install them with the lights in.

    1) Clean the lights thoroughly.
    2) Spray the lights with Windex or Water.
    3) Spray the back of the LaminX with Windex or Water.
    4) Apply the LaminX to the Fog lights.
    5) Slowly work out any bubbles that appear.
    6) You're done. That took all of 5 minutes to do.

yeah, the only thing i'll add to that is that a small plastic pry tool or something similar is needed to push the edges of the decal in under the lip of the fog light housing.

Thanks for the info @cuse93 and @Borracho Loco. When I first got them, I held them up to the lights and thought I might have to take them out to put them on due to the awkwardness of the bezel (Limited) and trying to get them in without them sticking to everything else. 3) Spray the back of the LaminX with Windex or Water - this will take care of that.

Spray the fog lights and the LaminX with a generous amount of water/windex. That way you can slide them around a bit and they won't stick. Once they're in the spot you like, don't touch them and they'll dry out very fast.

I put mine on over a year ago and they look great and haven't chipped/pealed or even started to come off.

The LED's are a very high color temp so with yellow laminX the emitted light has an almost greenish hue. Not sure about amber laminX but it might not be quite so green.

That is exactly what I expected mine to look like..... and wanted mine to look like.

What I now know, is that unlike yours, mine are LEDs..... and the LEDs unfortunately look like shit with the amber covers when the lights on.

Anyone got opinions on the functionality aspect of these covers over stock LED lights?

I read something about yellow supposedly being a plus in dusty or snowy conditions but don’t want to bother if there’s no benefits to function.

Well, they're simply $20 film covers. They're not going to look like Baja Designs and similar - or make OEM lights perform anything close to more premium aftermarket fog lights.

I have the LaminX yellow's over my factory LED fog's. This is what Lasfit has to say about the benefits (and the cons) on yellow fogs: https://www.lasfit.com/blogs/news/y...rf7CwPJsVLGxgB6SUA9gC-6OZEKJiJpQlW5Y6o3mNbVbz

Are Yellow Fog Lights Really Better Than White Fog Lights?
It's a very multifaceted question based on your daily driving condition. The yellow fog light allows you to see further and clearer during foggy, snowy, or rainy weather, and reduces the chances of accidents. However, the white fog light can match the look of white LED lights.

Yellow vs. White Fog Lights: Pros and Cons
    1) The pros of the yellow fog light
Ease of contact with the human eye. The yellow light allows the driver to detect an oncoming vehicle with its fog lights on as soon as possible.

Much more safety. Under the illumination of yellow light, the driver will unconsciously improve concentration to avoid accidents.

Good appearance. The yellow lights add extra beauty to the vehicle. Very stylish and personalized.

    2) The cons of the yellow fog light
Not be sufficiently bright in some situations. This will no be a big problem by adding extra lightings, such as LED light bar, pod light, white forward light, or the switchback mode fog light coming with dual color light.

I find that yellow light cuts through snow , rain and fog a little better than white light, this is just my opinion/experience. I’ve been using yellow fogs for years, usually just changing the bulbs. This is the first truck with LED lights, so I used the Laminx route. Driving through blizzards seems to be the most noticeable difference.

Yeah, the LEDs are rectangular lights in round housings, but at least they do function much nicer. I did the yellows. I keep them on mostly for cosmetics. They look like crap when lit because they cast light with a slightly green tinge.

How is the light color with the amber film? Does it still look amber from the drivers seat?

Yeah, it looks somewhat amber. Personally speaking, I think white/clear is the best performing fog light option. I was actually very impressed with the optional OEM LED fog lights.... and somewhat less so with the amber covers on them. I live in a very rural area with lots of very dark twisty two lane roads, deer, and other critters. The fog lights really help illuminate the shoulders of the road. I'll probably end up peeling the amber covers off.

I swapped mine out with Diode Dynamics, it isnt hard to do. I also ran the fog lights to their own switch so they can be on without the headlights. With something like this, if you're going to swap them out, go with good quality lights and be done. Ive had the Diode DYnamics lights completely submerged and they didnt even flicker. I just dont think a "sticker" over the OEM lights would give the results you wanted.
