Just got back from tinting my 2 front windows. I went with Xpel Prime XR (30%) and I am less than thrilled. It is casting a green hue when compared to the rear windows. I'll live with it for a bit, but I will probably take it off.

Anyone else have this issue? Is the green in the tint itself, a combination of tint over factory, an Xpel issue?

The green pic is the newly tinted front window. The grey pic is the stock 2nd row window.

Weird, I just had the dealership do mine before I took delivery and I haven’t noticed a green hue.

So weird, right!?!?. My hunch is that it is an Xpel hue issue. When you have a moment, can you find out what brand your dealer uses, and see if you have a similar issue on your Runner? I may have to do a do-over. Thankfully just 2 windows and it wasn't a big commitment.

Hmm, I have Xpel XR+, not sure if it’s comparable, maybe the same? but also 30% on the sides front-to-back.

I think I see what you’re asking but whether it’s to the extent you see is another question. I never noticed it much but I’ll have to check when lighting is better.

This shop gave me 2 choices... Xpel XR and Xpel XR+. He said the XR+ has a blue'ish tint to it and recommended the XR.

Maybe blue is what I needed after all (he was not in front of my car when going over the options so maybe he "forgot'' what 4runners come stock with)?

Too poor to buy anything now
I could live with it if it looks okay from outside. I wouldn't want 2 different tint colors there.

The shop should have told you that the front windows have a green hue from the factory that is very noticeable when you add tint to them.

Mine are the same and it's noticeable until you don't notice it. In my case, a couple of days.

@Grandpamoses - its a foggy day here so hard to tell without the sunshine. I will figure it out. The shop for sure will not take responsibility. They make you sign all these papers saying the tint is your choice, its not a legal value, blah blah.

@jkirkpatrick - correct. He could have said, the XR+ has blue, but the XR regular has green. What I really wish I knew to do, is have them put up 2 sample strips on the window to show me the tint % and to compare any hue'ing (if that is a word). Ill let it slide for a bit but knowing me, my OCD will get the best of me. Driving home, all i could so is focus on the color difference of the 2nd row when backing up, etc.

I don’t know what brand my tint is but is not the hue that you have. I just remember knowing it was ceramic and supposed lot better at blocking heat build up. I would just find someone to redo it and rest easy. At least it is an easy fix, sure will cost some money but life if is too short to drive yourself crazy.

Mine might be Xpel because I had the whole front end xpeled which has been great. Best wishes man and Merry Christmas

@mac1usa - agreed. Nothing to cry over in the long run. I will figure it out over the holidays. Wont lose sleep on this one.

Happy holidays to all and thank you for the feedback!

My front windows have a very very mild yellow/amber hue to them from the factory. Really only noticeable on the clearest of days when looking at the sky (with the window partially rolled down). Blue + yellow = green.

    Edit: my 4R is a 24 Pro

They probably used cheap stuff on mine but I think it looks great and has held up perfectly for over 6 years. I think I’m the only guy on this forum didn’t use Xpel for tint or front bra.

Many years ago one of the side windows was shot out of my car. Glass company replaced but the replacement glass had a green hue. Bothered me but I sold it shortly thereafter to buy my first Toyota.

I see your logic. Only I didn't get the blue tint. Apparently I got green. ;-)

I can send picture of my xpel xr tomorrow when it is daytime. My tint is about a month old on my 24.

There is the possibility they used something besides xr as requested.

    @4RUnderground -

Thank you! And yes, just because I was told I was getting XR, doesn't mean that is what was applied.

Hope this helps. Overcast day but tried to show its attributes. This is 20% XR Prime Black on front windows. Have 20% over the rest of the back of the vehicle as well.

Good amount of shops are upfront and enter the roll ID "serial/lot number" from the tint roll on the customer receipt.

Switching products is fairly common in the tint industry unfortunately, not say this is the case in this instance, just trying to inform buyers on shady shops.

Just to clear up confusion for those reading these posts,

    Xpel Ceramic is offered in

XR Prime Plus, XP Prime Black and XR Prime Blue

Standard Dyed Tint from Xpel is offered in

    Prime CS Black

I have XR Black - and it looks like regular ol grey tint. Pretty happy. The shop steered me away from XR+ due to the color appearance.
